Yesterday, family, friends, Rotarians and members of the wider community gathered to celebrate the life of John Gannon.

John was a respected Past President of the Rotary Club of Narellan and a passionate contributor to our local community. Through his leadership, generosity and commitment to service, he made a lasting difference to the lives of many people across the Macarthur region.

As the owner of Macarthur Lady Funerals and a valued member of the Greater Narellan Business Chamber, John supported countless families and businesses with compassion, dignity and kindness.

John was also a proud member of Team Kermit, helping to raise funds for Camp Quality and supporting children and families impacted by cancer. His willingness to give back and support important causes reflected the generous spirit for which he was so well known.

A beautiful eulogy was delivered by fellow Rotarian Barrie Grimes, who shared memories of a friendship spanning almost 60 years. His heartfelt reflections painted a picture of a loyal friend, dedicated family man and community leader who touched the lives of so many.

Our thoughts are with John's family, friends and colleagues as they navigate this difficult time. His legacy of service, community spirit and care for others will not be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, John.

What an incredible evening celebrating 26 years of impact at the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation Country Western 🤠👢 Gala Ball.

A highlight of the night was the announcement of a $50,000 NSW Government contribution to support the creation of a neuroinclusive sensory space and private breastfeeding room within the Campbelltown Hospital Emergency Department, helping provide a calmer and more supportive environment for children and families.

Congratulations to Volunteer of the Year, Diana Mailata, whose dedication and service have made a lasting difference to the Foundation and our community.

The prestigious Dr Ric Dunstan Memorial Award was presented to Jessica Mitchell, a Western Sydney University medical student, recognising her commitment to the future of healthcare.

The Rotary Club of Narellan was proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of this wonderful event, supporting a cause that continues to improve the lives of local children and families.

Last night we had an inspiring visit for our Rotary members to the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and the Perich Centre for Robotics and Innovation.

Last night we visited and learnt about groundbreaking remote ultrasound training delivered from Liverpool to Dubbo, an incredible Australian-developed initiative transforming rural healthcare.

We also saw innovation in robotics, AI, and the Visual Heart Lab, alongside international collaborations with the Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota, using VR, AR and 3D printed hearts to revolutionise medical training.

Proud to see the impact, with over $2.1 million raised by Narellan Rotary supporting life-saving research.

Real impact. Real innovation. 🌏💙

He also shared insights into the club’s future growth plans, including the further development of The Academy and the introduction of Walking Football for over 60’s 👟👏 (the very first sign-up was one of our Rotary club members- can you guess who? 😉)

In the A-League the club is also currently number one in shirt sales across Australia 🔥👕

🎄A Very Macarthur Christmas Tree Adventure 😂

When Kathy, the General Manager’s legendary Unit Executive Officer, marched into the Kids of Macarthur office with that look, we knew something big was coming…..

“Kids of Macarthur… we need your help,” she said.
“Name it,” we replied (maybe a bit too confidently).

She explained that the Campbelltown Hospital foyer desperately needed a Christmas tree, but not just any tree, but a BIG, FABULOUS, FESTIVE MASTERPIECE.

Well… Kids of Macarthur knew exactly who to call.
We got out our phone quicker than Santa grabs cookies and rang our good friend Tim Knapp, President of the Rotary Club of Narellan !
And just like us… Tim couldn’t say no either.
Tim rallied his fellow Rotarians, and before anyone could say “Deck the halls,” they all agreed:
The hospital MUST have a mighty Christmas tree!

So what did they do?
They called in the big guns…
They laced up their shopping shoes…
And they went on a Christmas Tree Shopping Spreeeeee! 🎄🛒✨

And that, friends, is how a tiny request turned into a giant 4.58m Christmas tree- now proudly shining in the hospital foyer, bringing joy, sparkle, and at least three “WOWs” per minute from passers-by.

We are thrilled to welcome the festive season with this beautiful tree, generously donated by the Rotary Club of Narellan, and brought to life with the decorating magic of Kids of Macarthur and the amazing Campbelltown Hospital Engineering team.
Grant, the General Manager, was most impressed and Kathy can’t get enough of the twinkling lights! ✨

A special shout-out to Signs & Wraps for creating a beautiful custom bauble for Tim Knapp, Rotary President, and Grant Isedale, Hospital General Manager, to hang on the tree and commemorate this wonderful moment. 🎁✨

Thank you, Rotary Club of Narellan, for helping us make the hospital a brighter, more magical place this Christmas.
