This morning I can announce that Deputy Commissioner Mal Lanyon has been chosen to be the 24th Commissioner of the NSW Police Force.

Mal has dedicated his career to serving the people of NSW and leading from the front.

He's led major operations for New South Wales Police and most recently led the NSW Reconstruction Authority - lifting up communities that have been devastated by natural disasters.

We've made this decision based on who we believe should be at the helm on New South Wales' worst day.

Mal is that individual.

I want to make it clear that he is the exceptional leader the New South Wales Police Force needs right now, and I'm confident he has the skills, experience and vision to guide them into their next chapter.

He will begin his 5 year term in just a few week's time on October 1.

Police and Counter-terrorism Minister Yasmin Catley MP and I look forward to working closely with the new Commissioner.

The NSW Government is fast tracking land rezonings to bring more homes to our community, including right here in Warwick Farm!

A proposal for a 3.9 hectare site at the corner of Mannix Parade and the Hume Highway could deliver extra housing, including new social housing, and a new local park. It is only a short walk to Warwick Farm station and close to key bus routes, giving residents easy access to jobs, education and services.

Campbelltown City Council, NSW leadership at the time promised this would be free. They can't even run a pool or build a car park correctly, and they are giving the state government and Commonwealth advice. Surely, a government enquiry after Liverpool is completed? Disgraceful.

Where is Mayor Britievic now? A $50m investment of rate payer money. How many times have they lost government funding now?

The Chris Minns and Anthony Albanese Labor Governments are investing $65 million to plan upgrades for seven key road corridors across communities in South West Sydney.

This means:

✅ Busting congestion�
✅ Improving safety�
✅ Supporting our growing region

Already, more than 100,000 vehicles use these roads every day. That’s only set to grow.

We’re doing the planning now, to set us up for safer, smoother journeys well into the future.
