Due to Ex TC Narelle and the impending weather, we have unfortunately made the decision to cancel our Onslow 4WD launch event scheduled for tomorrow night.

This 4WD has been a massive project, over two years in the making, and represents a fantastic outcome for St John Onslow and our community.

We would like to sincerely thank our major supporters — Minderoo Foundation, Mineral Resources, Altrad, Sulzer and FMG — for helping bring this project to life. We also extend a huge thank you to the Onslow community for your ongoing support through raffle ticket purchases, Devonshire teas, and contributions to our giving page. Projects like this simply aren’t possible without the support of our community.

The 4WD is already proving its value, having responded to an emergency at Back Beach. While all callouts can be challenging, off-road responses have now become significantly safer and more manageable for our Onslow crew.

Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed to delivering this incredible asset for the Onslow community.

A very big thank you to Mineral Resources.

Through their Quarterly Community Grants Program, St John Onslow has been able to purchase a new wheelchair complete with stair tracker, along with other essential equipment to mobilise their new 4WD ambulance — coming soon!

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support that helps us strengthen emergency care in our community.

📣 We’re looking for a Secretary – Can you spare a few hours a week?

St John Onslow is seeking a Secretary to join our Committee and support our amazing team of volunteers.

This is a non-clinical role and a great way to contribute to your community. Responsibilities include:

Checking and responding to emails
Arranging committee meetings
Recording meeting minutes
Assisting with social media

St John Onslow held their annual Awards & Christmas Dinner last night — a beautiful evening under the stars celebrating our wonderful volunteers and the amazing work they do all year round!

All awards were selected by our volunteers, and our 2025 recipients were:

Volunteer of the Year Award
• Faye McCarthey
• Jo Yates

Chairperson of the Year Award
• Hayley Brett

Community Paramedic Award
• Chloe Hogan

Hayley Brett was also awarded Life Membership of the Onslow Sub Centre for 5 years of continuous service.

We also sadly farewelled Fiona O'Shea and Jo Yates, who are leaving Onslow. We wish them both all the very best on their next life journeys.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible volunteers and their families. Volunteering for St John takes a special kind of person, and we are so proud of everything we achieve together as a team.

Also a big thanks to Kev and Brett for cooking the BBQ and keeping everyone well fed.

Through the Pilbara Ports Community Grants Program, the Onslow Sub Centre has been able to upgrade its technology, including replacing both the on-shift and training iPads, as well as purchasing a special-purpose adapter (a ShockLink) to simulate realistic scenarios using our Corpuls.

With this generous support, we are better equipped to serve the community by ensuring our volunteers have the tools they need to respond effectively to medical emergencies. These devices play a crucial role during clinical callouts, enabling real-time electronic documentation and informed decision-making.

Additionally, the training-specific iPads and ShockLink system will enhance volunteer education and further improve overall service delivery.
