Good afternoon members,
The SRCT Committee has been made aware of rumours being spread amongst the racing community regarding the medical services being provided at our race meetings.
Last year the committee undertook extensive research and discussions with both Ambulance Tasmania and ProMed. The intention was to better understand what levels of care each group could provide, and what would be in the best interest of the club to ensure its longevity without having to significantly raise prices for our ride and race days. At the conclusion of these discussions, the committee decided that we were satisfied that ProMed could provide the same level of care to our members as Ambulance Tasmania, and far surpassed the medical requirements from Motorcycling Australia (MA).
Every step of the way, the safety of our members was duly considered as we agreed we would never compromise on the care provided.
It is to the knowledge and understanding of the committee that ProMed have always provided our members with the best care possible. On a race day, they staff their Patient Transfer Vehicle with an Intensive Care Paramedic and an Intensive Care Doctor as per the committees instructions. We also have a track side medical centre where these highly qualified medical personnel can provide top level trauma care to multiple patients at any given time. This level of care meets the MA guidelines required for a State Level race meeting, and exceeds the requirements for Interclub Level events for Road Racing in Tasmania. The SRCT has always provided the top level of care possible to our members, and always will.
Unlike Ambulance Tasmania, ProMed will not be called away from an event should there be a community incident that the requires the use of a nearby Ambulance. Such an event would force the Racing to cease until an appropriate Ambulance returned.
Our Committee works very hard to put on the best possible Road Racing events for our members to enjoy, and this will never change. We encourage any member to come along to our committee meetings on the first Wednesday of each month to be involved in the decision making for the club, ask those burning questions or clarify any misconceptions or misinformation you’ve heard.
As always, we welcome volunteers on ride and race days as it takes many hands to organise a run and make our events successful.
If you have any further questions, please email us at [email protected] or send us a message on Facebook at any time.
