🚨 SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RURAL FIRE BRIGADE TONIGHT 🚨
We’re running the meat raffles tonight at Club Old Bar, and we’d love your support.

Fundraisers like this help us purchase critical safety equipment that helps our brigade keep the community safe.

If you’re heading to the club tonight, come say hello, grab some raffle tickets, and support your local brigade. You might even take home some great meat trays!

3.00pm Sunday 10 May 2026 (Mothers Day), our category 1 tanker attended the Burdekins Gap fire just south of Bulahdelah.

With the area in drought and having not seen the rain we have had on other areas of the district, the fire behaviour was erratic.

The brigade remained in attendance till approximately 11.00pm conducting back burns and mopping up, along many other brigades.

The fire remains at advice level and under control.

Thanks to those RFS members and brigades who took the time out of Mothers Day to assist.

As we move into the colder months, fire agencies often see an increase in house fires as residents use their fireplaces and heaters to stay warm. With temperatures dropping and possible snow forecast across parts of the state in the coming days, it’s important you know how to stay safe.

Remember, you won’t smell smoke while you’re asleep, so make sure your bleeping smoke alarms are working. A working smoke alarm can save your life and give you and your family valuable time to escape a burning home.
