It was a profound honour to gather in the stillness of the early morning before dawn at the Officer Memorial Gates. Paying our respects to the service and sacrifice of our ANZACs and all those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Carrying the ANZAC spirit of mateship we enjoyed further reflection and sharing of stories over breakfast provided by the Officer Kangaroos Junior Football Club, along with tea, coffee and ANZAC biscuits by the CWA Officer Woorinyan.

Vale Carol Porter OAM
1944 - 2026

ODCA was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Carol Porter OAM this past Saturday and would like to extend our sincere condolences to all of Carol’s family.
Carol was a life-long active and well respected member of the Officer Progress Association and subsequently the Officer and District Community Association since its inception.

Carol and her late husband, Rob, made significant contributions to preserving Officer’s heritage during periods of development. Their efforts included the conservation of the Officer Union Church and the Officer Kiln. Additionally, they took part in the working group responsible for the careful relocation of the Officer Memorial Gates in 2012 and played a key role in starting the Officer Community ANZAC Dawn Service, which continues to grow in attendance each year.

Carol dedicated herself wholeheartedly to community volunteering and, while she will be deeply missed, her legacy will endure.

All are welcome to attend a service in celebration of Carol’s life, details in link below.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate the life of Carol Porter in the Lakeview Room at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, 40 Lakeside Boulevard, Pakenham on Friday 6th February 2026 commencing at 12:00 p.m. A burial will follow at the Pakenham Cemetery, Thewlis Road Pakenham.
