EVENT UPDATE from Judy Shelley: NRRL Board members Lydia Kindred and Chris Sheridan will be guest speakers at the starting @ 11am this coming Thursday, 8 October . Chris has been working for several months revising the costs and planning of the railway corridor revitalisation program Stage 1 Byron Bay to Mullumbimby his updated findings and documentation suggest that a dual-use railway corridor is feasible to achieve.

LISMORE: MORE BUSINESS OWNERS SIGN A LETTER OF SUPPORT TO BRING BACK TRAINS -this time it is a signed Letter of Support to bring back trains from local Lismore lawyer, Francis Joseph, who recently attended, along with Lydia from NR Railway and many other local business owners, a 'Business Lismore After Hours' get together at the 41 Battalion RNSWR East Lismore Army Reserve.

The event included presentations about employing Army Reservists in local businesses as very worthwhile. Great finger food was provided to keep the attendees happy and chatting along with a live display of some of the Army Reservists' skills.

Francis, the Principal of Joseph Legal, agrees with and supports the proposed NRRL Lismore to Yelgun project to provide a regular train service in our NR region.

LISMORE MORE BUSINESS OWNERS SIGN A LETTER OF SUPPORT TO BRING BACK TRAINS -this time it is Jim's Hazmat Removal Lismore - pictured are father and son Neil and Jackson Marks- both are great supporters of trains coming back to Lismore and the Northern Rivers.

Many people will remember Neil as the long-time radio breakfast broadcaster on 2LM, and also ZZZ Radio, as well as a stint as a councillor on Lismore City Council.

His son Jackson is running his own business, Jim's Hazmat Removal Lismore, and doing well.

Jackson was happy to sign the NRRL Business Letter of Support and Neil signed the NRRL Individual's Survey while they were attending the Business Lismore After Hours at the 41 Battalion Army Reserve in East Lismore recently.

AND YES ... IN 2020 10,000 names in support of bringing back our trains to the Casino Murwillumbah line were presented to State Parliament.

The image below shows Tamara Smith MP (Greens Member for Ballina, left) and Abigail Boyd MLC (NSW Greens Member of the Legislative Council, right) outside the New South Wales Parliament in October 2020. They are holding a box containing over 10,000 petition signatures collected from the public to "Save the Casino to Murwillumbah Rail Line."

The petition was organized by community advocates, including the Northern Rivers Railway Action Group and Trains On Our Tracks (TOOT). Its core objective was to urge the NSW Government to protect the existing infrastructure and reinstate public commuter rail services on the historically significant corridor.

Ms Kindred passionate and long term advocate of the return of our trains as public transport for more than 20 years and now Secretary of Northern Regional Rail Ltd (NRRL) said "We held a railway stall every fortnight for over 5 years at the Lismore Car Boot Market, and we also collected signatures from markets at Mullumbimby, New Brighton and Byron Bay."

LISMORE-ITS RAINING PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THE RETURN OF TRAINS: pictured here is Jessica Fraser. Jessica works with CASPA - a support service helping young people, she was very happy to sign the NRRL Survey in support of bringing back our trains as public transport, and is very supportive of trains extending through our region.

Jessica lives and works in Lismore and says it will make an enormous difference having a regular train service available to the young, the old and everyone in between.

LISMORE -MORE INDIVIDUALS SIGN UP IN SUPPORT OF TRAINS RETURNING TO THE NORTHERN: Pictured is the CEO of RED Inc, Marie Gale, who recently attended 'The Business of Doing Business' workshop held on September 9th in Lismore, the event was organised by Business NSW Northern Rivers and held at Southern Cross University.

Red Inc provides 'personalised disability services with compassion and dedication to promote independence, dignity, and fulfilment.'

Marie is a supporter of the return of trains to the Northern Rivers region. Ms Gale said the return of trains as public transport would certainly help people with a disability move around our region. Indeed having frequent, safe, all-weather non-road public transport between the major towns of Lismore, Bangalow, Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and Billinudgel (servicing over 7,000 residents around Ocean Shores) would provide a game-changer for the youth, the elderly, those dealing with a disability, commuters, tourists and everyone else who wants to connect to other towns without having to drive and in doing so be able to safely enjoy the beautiful countryside in our region as it passes by!
