🏖️ OUR YEAR. OUR CLUB. OUR IMPACT. 💚💛

Our 2025/26 Denmark Surf Life Saving Club Annual Report is out and there's plenty for our club to be proud of.

Behind every patrol, training session, Nippers morning, rescue, carnival and community event are volunteers giving their time to make our beaches safer and help build confident, capable people.

A snapshot of our 2025/26 impact:

🌊 2,132+ hours of patrol and water safety
👀 8,952 beachgoers watched over during patrol hours
🛟 15 rescues and 450 preventative actions
⛑️ 13 first aid treatments
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 462 members – an increase of 10.8%
🟢 175 Nippers learning skills for life
🎓 Dozens of new lifesaving qualifications, including 13 Bronze Medallions and 12 Surf Rescue Certificates
🏕️ Our first Youth Development Camp, helping develop the next generation of lifesavers and community leaders
🚁 A new drone program and strengthened Emergency Response capability
🏆 Finalist for Surf Life Saving WA Club of the Year, with our own Robyn McMeikan named SLSWA Lifesaver of the Year

And, after almost 10 years of work, we finally moved into our new home at Ocean Beach. 💚💛

But perhaps the most important impact can't be captured in numbers. It's the confidence in recognising a rip, the training to know how to help someone in trouble, it's the volunteer feels and the friendships and connection in our club and across our community.

As our President Jane Kelsbie says in the report, our club might be small, but we are mighty – supporting water safety and first aid across our community, responding to emergencies and building skills well beyond our own membership.

A huge thank you to every member, volunteer, parent, trainer, patrol member, supporter, sponsor and community partner who made 2025/26 possible.

📣 CALLING ALL YOUTH! Are you interested in becoming a YOUTH Coach, Trainer, Official or Age Group Manager Assistant? Surf Life Saving WA has a new Youth Recognition Pathways (YRP) program where youth members have the opportunity to formally record their experiences & service and receive recognition for doing so. SLSWA are running several online sessions on Saturday 17 October to get you started (plus some face-to-face sessions in Bunbury in January). 🌊 Our Nippers need you! 💛💚

As we gear up for another fantastic season at Denmark Surf Life Saving Club, we have one particularly important volunteer role we’d love to fill: Nipper Coordinator.

Our Nippers program is a huge part of our club – helping our youngest members build confidence, skills, friendships and a lifelong connection with the ocean.

The good news? You won’t be doing it alone.

We already have someone lined up to help organise people and activities on the beach each Sunday. What we need now is someone who can oversee our established Nippers program behind the scenes – keeping things organised, coordinating the season, communicating with families and volunteers and attending committee meetings.

And if taking it on solo feels like a bit much, the role could absolutely be shared between two people.

We’re also looking for volunteers for two important non-committee roles:

👉 Member Protection Information Officer
👉 Complaints Officer

These roles all help make Denmark SLSC the welcoming, safe and well-run club we’re proud to be.

So, what do you get out of it?

You’ll become even more connected with an amazing surf club community, work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers and have a front-row seat as our young – and not-so-young – clubbies learn, grow and challenge themselves.

There’s plenty of personal development along the way too. And, of course, you get to be part of something fun, worthwhile and uniquely Denmark – with Ocean Beach as the office backdrop. 🌊☀️

You don’t need to know everything before putting your hand up. There are experienced people around you and plenty of support.

🌊 Cheers to another summer of surf life saving!

Last Saturday, clubbies enjoyed a fantastic evening celebrating our 2025/26 season, recognising the incredible volunteers who help keep Ocean Beach safe and congratulating this year's award winners.

A huge thank you to for the outstanding meal, to the .riversideclub for hosting us and to everyone who contributed to another successful season.

We're already looking forward to the 2026/27 season! Membership information will be available in September, and we'd love to welcome new members and volunteers.
