Paying it forward – 2025!

Each year I am privileged to be the Officer Commanding of this fantastic Army Cadet unit and am proud and honored to be entrusted by the Australian Army Cadets, but importantly humbled to have an opportunity to sow greatness into the youth by the parents and families of our cadets.

2025 has been an epic year, as we continue to grow from strength to strength, and I reflect as I close the gates for the final time, on the challenges and efforts our volunteers have achieved in building resilient, strong, and dependable teenagers who are left never the same, 100 percent better off than they were at the start the year.

Thank you for being YOU. Thank you for stepping out and striving to help OTHERS, the attitude and service, and above all keep believing in YOURSELF.

As we closed out the year it was another honour to continue our annual Pay-it-Forward initiative in support of the community in which we live, work, and play, continuing my philosophy that supporting our community with the attitude of “Because We Can” should be at the cornerstone of all we do, both inwardly and outwardly.

For 2025 43 ACU selected ‘The Everyman’s Welfare Service’ as this year’s community Pay-it-Forward partner, an organisation that is a significant philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting former members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

The Everyman’s are essential in bridging this gap—offering compassionate aid, practical assistance, and ongoing connection for those who have served our nation. So, we thank you for your community welfare support and hope the additional cheque for $1500 helps in some small way.

Merry Christmas to you all, and see you in 2026....

We would like to thank SA Ambulance Service paramedics for their time in providing our cadets the opportunity to learn about the Ambulance Service and some new life saving skills, including how to use the units newly acquired Defibrillator.

Australian Army Cadets has received the new design for the Corps Badge, aligning the crown with the monarch, His Majesty, King Charles III.

This change is in line with Defence’s conversion program beginning on the 1 August 2025, and replaces the previous Corps Badge, which wore the St Edwards Crown – the symbol of the Queen, to the Tudor Crown - the recognised symbol of the King.

Commander of the Australian Army Cadets, Brigadier David McCammon DSM and Bar said the adoption of the new Corps Badge is a significant milestone.

“Since the coronation of His Majesty, King Charles III, institutions have undergone a gradual transition of symbols in line with his Majesty’s wishes,” Brigadier McCammon said.

“We had recently transitioned from the old Corps Badge replacing the Rising Sun with the St Edwards Crown – an amendment that was approved in the last days of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

“This revised Corps Badge with the Queen’s Crown was released during the transition period in honour of Her Majesty and will now be retired till the next reigning Queen.”

The new King’s variant will be rolled out across the Australian Army Cadets, beginning with official correspondence and social media through to hat badges and other uniform accoutrements.
