Jamesโ€™ journey is proof that with the right support, goals can become reality!

This year, teams from Status Employment Services, BlueSky Mind Studio, and Pivot Training RTO #46089 have worked together to support James in building his skills and independence.

What makes our services unique is the collaboration between our teams, making it easier for Participants to access additional supports when needed. By working together, we can provide tailored pathways that help Participants achieve their employment and training goals!

With support from our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) team, Pivot Training RTO #46089 and BlueSky Mind Studio, James is achieving his goals!

When James first joined Status, he recognised that he would like to build his confidence and create a pathway towards greater independence and employment.

As part of this journey, James enrolled in the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program through Pivot Training RTO #46089. Recently, he successfully completed his first SEE assessment, achieving a milestone that once seemed out of reach and demonstrating just how far his determination and perseverance have taken him.

Through our Customised Employment program, he worked with his NDIS Employment Coach, Amy, to explore his strengths, interests and conditions for success. Through Discovery, what started as a focus on warehouse work has grown into exploring opportunities connected to his interests in nature, wildlife, animals and the outdoors.

Joshua is now building confidence, stepping outside his comfort zone and working towards greater independence and meaningful employment.

This May, Status is shining a spotlight on Crohnโ€™s disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), in recognition of IBD Awareness Month.

Recently, a group of staff from Status Western Australia completed the IBD in the Workplace training, strengthening their understanding of the physical and mental impacts of IBD, workplace rights for Participantโ€™s living with the condition, and practical ways to support Participants transitioning into suitable employment. This initiative is led by Chad, Employment Services Area Manager for the West in Western Australia, who has lived with Crohnโ€™s disease for the past 7 years and brings valuable lived experience to his role.

Tomorrow, staff across Adelaide and Perth offices will observe World IBD Day, and raise funds for Crohn's & Colitis Australia. We are proud to continue building our knowledge and skills to better support our Participants, including a young Participant in Kwinana living with Crohnโ€™s, who has shared how meaningful it is to see their provider leading education, awareness, and celebration of the condition.
