Riding for the Disabled Oakbank RDA Oakbank is situated in the beautiful Adelaide Hills offering horse riding activities to people with disabilities.

We currently run lessons on Tuesday and Friday during school terms thanks to our great team of volunteers!

Our centre was thrilled to have 5 of our volunteers awarded Meritorious Service Awards in recognition of their many years of dedication and service in supporting what we do at RDA Oakbank.

Awards were presented to Dianne Rawlins, Freya Lamacraft, Helen James, Ann Fryer and Marie Roma. 👏

Celebrating 80 wonderful years of the Country Women’s Association - Woodside 💜
It was a privilege for some of the Oakbank RDA team to attend the event.
We presented a beautiful bunch of flowers to say thank you for their generosity & especially for bringing little “Lucy” (Cupcake) the Welsh Mountain Pony to our centre.

Oakbank volunteers were recently treated to an excellent training session in horse handling presented by Natasha Cockburn who is an Equestrian Australia Coach, a National Dressage rider and owner of Oakwood Equestrian Academy. The training, which was run twice, was funded by a Volunteer Grant and held at Oakwood Park at Oakbank. All attendees appreciated Natasha’s experience and her ability to make the sessions fun and informative. They especially enjoyed the opportunity to ride Zotti or Mischief! 🐴🐴

Happy Easter to everyone from RDA Oakbank.
Our riders enjoyed some easter themed activities to finish the term including an easter egg hunt (on horseback) in the cross-country paddock.

Our horses are enjoying the break. Lucy and Arby are on vacation being spoilt by Lisa, whilst Clyde and Raisin are enjoying being in the large paddock.

💚 *Vale Wally* 💚
It is with very heavy hearts that we said goodbye to our dear Wally on March 10th whose health deteriorated suddenly. Wally would have been 37 this year!

Wally, a 12.1 hh Welsh Cob, came to our Centre in 2011 and has been the *best* RDA pony we could have wished for. 🥇We are grateful to Lisa James for leasing Wally to us for all these years. He has been an ideal pony, especially for beginner riders, showing great patience with them and allowing them to experience the freedom and joy that riding brings. While we retired Wally from carrying riders a few years ago, he has been happy to be led and groomed in unmounted lessons.

Wally won the best horse award several times at RDA competitions and he was a star at the 2018 Special Olympics where his young Queensland rider was besotted with him. 🏆
He has touched the lives of countless riders and their families and volunteers. We all loved his character, his energy and his enthusiasm for life. 😁
Thank you Wally for giving so much joy to so many. You will be greatly missed.

Thanks to those that braved the heat early to help pick up the record number of 469 bales this season with special thanks to Tony and Marie Roma who got going at 7am to avoid the worst of the heat.
