Please share in the celebration of Numburindi Development Aboriginal Corporation the official opening of our new office at Lot 284 and formally announced the first stage of Numbulwar’s Language and Cultural Hub, in honour of the late Mr L. Rami.
This Hub is the beginning of a much bigger vision for NDAC.
We are bringing together existing language and cultural resources, developing new recordings, progressing the Wubuy Dictionary and supporting Certificate II, III and IV language training to build pathways for local Wubuy speakers to become qualified language teachers.
The Hub will also support cultural storytelling, youth and arts programs, culturally led healing spaces and NDAC’s Peace Maker model.
As NDAC continues to grow, our longer-term vision is to connect the Language and Cultural Hub with identified Numbulwar outstations and carefully developed eco-cultural tourism opportunities. This is another carefully scaled approach that focus on NDAC workforce strategy, employment, training, cultural enterprise and sustainable opportunities while supporting people to reconnect, learn and heal on Country.
The opening of Lot 284 is therefore more than the opening of a building. It is another step in NDAC’s growth and in creating the infrastructure needed to support language, culture, healing, employment, young people and future community-led
This is only the beginning for NDAC.
Our next chapter is about growing language, strengthening culture, creating healing spaces, developing our local workforce and building sustainable opportunities for future generations.
