Tomorrow is our next MyTime session in Batemans Bay, for parents and carers of a child with a disability, chronic medical condition or other additional need, including developmental delay.

It's a chance to connect with others, learn about local support options and just take a break.

We have free child minding and a lovely morning tea each week.

Hope to see you there!

🫶 MOMENTS THAT MATTER 🫶

Sensory play - any activity that stimulates a child's senses - is vital for early development. It strengthens brain architecture, builds nerve connections and enhances fine and gross motor skills.

By actively engaging touch, sight, hearing, taste, smell, and body awareness, children learn to process information, regulate their emotions and solve problems.

Lots of sensory play happens at playgroups, preschools and early learning, so don't stress if it's not possible to do these activities at home.

We're hearing this more and more from parents - over-scheduling is real and it can negatively impact families in more ways than one.

It's easy to get stuck in the trap of thinking that children need more experiences to be more fulfilled, especially when you compare your family to others.

But the truth is that children build resilience, creativity and connection during unscheduled time.

If your weeks feel overwhelming and your children are struggling to keep up, consider cutting back. You might find that the magic really happens in the in-between moments!

Encouraging a young child towards verbal communication isn't just as straight-forward as telling them to 'use their words'.

A young child's brain is learning at an astonishing speech - building more than one million new neural connections every second! With so much going on inside their brains, the right words don't always just magically appear at the right times.

Repetition and patience are the keys to building skills and confidence at this age.

For parents who are struggling with their child's behaviour, examining the 'why' can be a powerful tool as it:

- Helps you to identify patterns in their behaviour
- Encourages reflectiveness which can inspire ideas of how to manage your child's behaviour differently in future or how to more effectively manage your own feelings and emotions
- Fosters compassion for your child and yourself
- Builds connection with your child

Debra Jefferis and her son, Sam Stubbs, very recognised and loved people within our Noah's community, featured on the ABC 730 Report this week as part of a story on inconsistencies in medical treatment for people living with an intellectual disability.

The story highlights a need for more education and system changes as well as calling for the return of funding for the Health Ambassadors Program.

Well done to Debra and Sam for being part of such an important advocacy and awareness story.

The healthcare system can be complex and challenging for anyone. ...
