Empowering Women Across the World to Transition Into a New Chapter of their Life through Microfinance

✨ 5 YEARS OF HER NEXT STEPS ✨

September 2nd marks 5 years since Her Next Steps officially applied to become an NGO. Five years ago, what started as a vision to create opportunity, dignity, and lasting change for women around the world took a very real step forward.

Since then, we’ve watched that vision grow beyond what we could have imagined. 🌍

From women launching businesses and providing for their families, to entrepreneurship training, microloans, partnerships, and communities being strengthened, every step has been made possible because people chose to believe in this mission and walk alongside us.

Five years later, we are incredibly grateful for every woman who has trusted us, every volunteer who has served, every donor who has given, every partner who has said yes, and every person who has helped carry the vision forward.

What a gift it is to look back and see how far we’ve come and even more exciting to look ahead at where we’re going.

Congratulations to the 20 incredible women in South Africa who have completed the Work For Life training! 🎉

Today, we celebrate more than a completed training, we celebrate the dedication, courage, and hard work each woman has poured into taking this next step toward building a brighter future.

Through Work For Life, women are equipped with the skills, confidence, and support to turn their ideas into sustainable businesses and create opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities.

On Saturday, our scholarship recipient, Aliana, graduated from nursing school in Mozambique! 🎓💙

This milestone represents years of hard work, perseverance, and hope. We couldn’t be prouder of all she has accomplished.

A special thank you to Eva and Martinho, our trusted advisors on the ground, whose guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support have helped make this moment possible. They are incredibly proud of Aliana and so are we.

After her restaurant business was tragically destroyed in the Congo, she didn’t give up. Instead, she started a new venture making natural juices using fresh, vibrant ingredients.

Her juices are in high demand, but the cost of fresh ingredients and supplies has made it difficult for her to keep up. She’s even had to turn customers away because she doesn’t have enough supplies to meet the demand.

We’re raising $600 to help Laure purchase the fresh ingredients and supplies she needs to keep her business going and growing.

✨ Meet Shyreen.

At just 26 years old, Shyreen has already faced more challenges than many experience in a lifetime. She is the youngest of five children and lost her father when she was only one year old. Without the financial means to continue their education, all of her siblings were forced to leave school.

Today, Shyreen relies on the kindness of others for a place to stay and struggles to meet even her basic needs. When she joined the Her Next Steps vocational training program, she shared that she could never have afforded the training, or a sewing machine on her own.

But what Shyreen does have is determination.

She is eager to learn, work hard, and build a future where she can support herself and help provide for her family. When asked what this opportunity means to her, she said the support she has received is “a second chance to change my life.”

This is why Her Next Steps exists. Every woman deserves the opportunity to learn a skill, earn an income, and create a brighter future for herself and her family.
