As we move beyond the winter months and reflect on the significant work undertaken across our ministries during this past season, we feel refreshed and renewed in our commitment to supporting ministry efforts and living out our shared values of compassion, justice, respect, and hope.

We continue to draw energy and inspiration from the dedication and impact demonstrated throughout the winter period, as our ministries work to help shape a world where God’s healing, liberating, and life-giving mercy is truly experienced.

💧🌏 Today marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, an annual ecumenical celebration of prayer and action to care for our common home.
Running from 1 September, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, this year's theme is "Living Water."
As ecological challenges deepen around the world, the theme reminds us that water is essential for all life and highlights the urgent reality that access to clean, safe water is still unequal for many communities.
May this season inspire us to listen to both the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor, and to act with hope and compassion. 💙

Today we celebrate the Feast Day of St Clare of Assisi, who was co-foundered the Franciscan movement with Saint Francis. Mount Alvernia College is a ministry of Mercy Partners and educates women in the Franciscan tradition. Across her life St Clare continued to grow in her love of God. She believed that deep contemplation of this love of the poor and humble Christ leads to union where his likeness appeared in her own life. How can we carry this commitment to continue looking at Christ until we become like Christ? How do we carry this likeness into our families, our work; our wider community so that others may experience Christ in how we love and live.

On 12 July 2026 we celebrate nine years of Mount Alvernia College being entrusted to the care of Mercy Partners by the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception.

Mount Alvernia College has been educating young women since 1956 and exist to empower their students to be hope-filled with a desire for learning and life, equipped to transform the world.

Mercy Partners Board Directors participated in the AMPJP Wisdom Circles held online where they welcomed the opportunity to hear ACU Associate Professor Jamie Calder SJ present on Called by Love to Canonical Stewardship – What Does That Mean in Practice?

The session also provided an opportunity for meaningful conversation over a shared meal with fellow Canonical Stewards and Trustees, allowing participants to exchange experiences and explore how common challenges and opportunities are being addressed.

This week we gave thanks to the Mercy Partners Chair, Ricki Jeffery for her 12 years of faithful, humble leadership. Ricki led with quiet courage, deep humility and an inclusive spirit — always listening, gently guiding, and holding people with dignity and respect. Under her stewardship Mercy Partners has grown, navigated difficult moments with compassion, and fostered a culture of collaboration and care.

Thank you, Ricki — for your courage, your gentleness, and your faithful witness. We look forward to seeing where this next chapter leads, and we carry your example forward in our work.
