Unleash Your Character’s Story with Nyx Birkhead! 🎨

We are thrilled to support local emerging artist Nyx Birkhead, whose debut exhibition is currently on display at the Painted Tree Gallery!

Nyx is bringing his art school expertise to Manjimup for his very first drawing workshop. Join us at Blackwood Youth Action to explore the creative process that sparked his passion for art and learn how to bring your own original characters to life.

In this hands-on workshop, you will discover compelling ways to build character stories through visual design, guiding your concepts from initial quick sketches to polished, finished looks.

'The Seer' (2026) is a redraw of Nyx Birkhead's 2018 original..

The recent work reveals greater technical mastery, colour saturation and emotional depth. There's an invitation into a story we don't fully know, but can wonder upon.

'The Seer' is just one of 15 pairs of re-imaginings in Nyx's first solo exhibition, Redraw. The show displays more than just artworks - it demonstrates real courage. It takes a lot of bravery to publicly share the drawings of your 12 year old self when you're 20. Kudos to you, Nyx!

Come check it out before it closes this Sunday - September 6th.

What a difference eight years makes in the life of a young artist!

The OG 'Tea Party' (on the left) was created by Nyx Birkhead in 2018 as a twelve year old, and then reimagined in 2026 at twenty.

This duo is just one of 15 pairs of 're-draws' in Nyx's solo exhibition 'Redraw' on show now at the Painted Tree Gallery in Northcliffe. It shows the evolution of Nyx's skill.

Redraw is open from 9am-3pm daily until Sunday 6 September.
