Perth Rotary’s seventh lunch meeting of our Centenary Year was chaired by Past Presidents Stephen Inouye and George Etrelezis, who created an enjoyable and informative event for members and guests.

Members heard from Cate Harman, Managing Director, and Maxine Wood, Clinical Nurse Specialist, both of MAADA, who spoke on “MADDA: Making an Impact – Shaping the Future.”

Cate shared the story of MADDA’s evolution, including its transition from Reflections to MADDA one year ago, and how this change has strengthened the organisation’s ability to support a broader community affected by dust-related diseases. Maxine then spoke about MADDA’s specialist support services and the organisation’s plans to expand this important work into the future.

The lunch also included a fun moment, with Past President George Etrelezis leading members through a game that brought plenty of energy and good humour to the room.

A special highlight of the meeting was the induction of two new Rotarians, Leanora Ngy and Marika Lewis. Leanora joins as a corporate member representing Business Events Perth, while Marika brings strong experience in business, management and community service. Their induction also marked a significant milestone, helping bring Perth Rotary’s membership to 100 members in our Centenary Year.

Perth Rotary's sixth lunch meeting of our Centenary Year was held on Friday 18 September, chaired by Past President Ray Della Polina.

Members and guests heard from Ray and Past President Wesley Sim, who together presented on some of the international projects and communities where Perth Rotary has made a meaningful impact over the years, with a particular focus on recent work in Bali.

Their presentation highlighted the practical, on-the-ground efforts that Perth Rotarians have contributed to abroad, from community development and education initiatives to projects that have improved lives in some of the regions that need it most.

It was a lively and illuminating presentation of Rotary Service Above Self at its very best, offering a powerful reminder of the difference that sustained, hands-on commitment can make beyond our own borders.

Since launching the PolioPlus program in 1985, Rotary and our partners have made incredible progress toward eradicating polio. We’ve celebrated vaccination milestones, cheered as regions of the world were certified polio-free, and contained wild poliovirus to just two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

But polio anywhere will always be a threat to children everywhere. We made a promise to the children of the world: One day, they won’t have to fear being paralyzed by polio.

Rotarians and friends are invited to join us at Royal Perth Golf Club, Friday 23 October 2026 to hear from Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall AC. During his address, Professor Marshall will explore key questions facing the scientific community:
