Perth Rotary Satellite Club - Rotary of Elizabeth Quay kicked off the weekend by volunteering at . Such an amazing organisation helping communities here in Australia and abroad one shipping container filled with bicycles at a time! Volunteers check and pump up the tyres, remove the pedals and lower the seat; remove the front tyre and then tie it off so that the maximum number of bicycles can be transported within the containers. 430 bicycles per container and 3 to 4 containers filled and shipped each year at an average cost of $12k for International destinations.

Perth Rotary’s fourth lunch meeting of our Centenary Year was held on Friday 21 August at the Parmelia Hilton, chaired by Past President Linken Fragomeli.

Members and guests heard from Professor Peter Friedland, ENT Surgeon, who spoke on “Lessons from a Giant – 9 years as one of Nelson Mandela’s Doctors.”

Professor Friedland shared the profound influence his years with Nelson Mandela had on his practice of medicine, reflecting on the lessons he learned from the late South African President and the importance of truly listening to those we serve.

It was a compelling and inspiring presentation, offering members and guests a powerful reminder of humility, service and human connection.

The Club was also delighted to welcome Julie, Rotary Youth Exchange Student from Denmark, who is here on exchange in Australia.

Another fabulous Perth Rotary Fellowship event - huge thanks and appreciation to Helen & Jeff Leach for their hospitality. Our annual bonfire night just gets better and better; we are so lucky to have our very own rock band - The Rotars who entertained the crowd well into the night. Huge effort to set up; sound check and then play. Thanks to one and all in the band.
