Together, we've made asthma awareness hard to miss! 💙

Last day to catch our Do Blue at Yagan Square and our Light Up WA trail.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign and helped raise awareness of asthma this year. It's been great to see so many of our collaborators and members of the Western Australian community coming together to start important discussions about symptoms, triggers and the importance of diagnosis.

Despite National Asthma Week ending today, there is still much to do. The blue lights might be coming down, but we're hopeful the awareness sparked this week will continue long after.

The reality of school attendance struggles is often complex and different for each child, impacting families and schools substantially.

In clinical practice and research, we see that autistic children are more likely to struggle with attending and engaging at school. There are many reasons for this, including sensory overload and severe anxiety, which may need to be addressed to help these children.

Many educators and families experiencing these schooling issues often have to overcome multiple barriers to help encourage and bring their children back into education.

In our upcoming CliniKids webinar, Dr Mei'En Lim, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Dr Jack Brett, Clinical Neuropsychologist & Research Fellow at CliniKids and The Kids Research Institute Australia will share the latest evidence-based research and best practice principles to support these children.

Whether you’re a teacher trying to help a student or a parent searching for practical answers, this session is designed to give you concrete, research-informed tools.

Do your kids love squishies?

These are soft, squeezable toys that come in all shapes, sizes and materials.

Although these items are popular among children - they may not be safe and may can contain harmful chemicals or small parts that pose a risk of injury. So be sure to do your research before purchasing these and buy them from reputable companies.

Check out ACCC’s Squishy guide for more details. www.productsafety.gov.au/consumers/play-and-exercise-safely/play-with-kids-toys-safely/squishy-toys-guide

This is a great article describing well the practice of school nursing as it should be, could be and must be to improve the health and well-being of our young people.

A terrific article in July's InPractice Magazine from Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation SA Branch highlighting the work of one of SA's wonderful school nurses. Well done Mark!
