Many people with EDS and HSD recognise parts of their own experience in research like this.

This 2023 study highlights how repeated difficult healthcare encounters can shape trust, wellbeing, and access to care - and why education and communication matter.

As a charity focused on improving health outcomes for people with EDS/HSD through interdisciplinary healthcare and clinician education, we share evidence to support better healthcare interactions for our community.

🌟 Why we're hosting an online film screening 🌟

At Connected Health Alliance, we are led by clinicians with lived experience of hypermobility conditions. Everything we do is shaped by the people we support and the care we know is possible.

Too many people with hypermobility conditions experience harm within healthcare from being dismissed, misdiagnosed, or treated without understanding. This can lead to iatrogenic trauma and medical PTSD. We believe this should not be part of anyone’s care journey.

The film we're streaming, Complicated, centres real stories of families living with hypermobility conditions and invisible illness. By amplifying these experiences, the film helps build awareness, understanding, and compassion where it is urgently needed.

Every ticket helps us continue working towards building a model of care that best meets the needs of our unique community, deliver tailored clinician education, organise and publish research and continue advocating for safer, more trauma-informed care.

Join Connected Health Alliance for our inaugural fundraiser - an exclusive 5-day digital screening of COMPLICATED, a powerful new medical documentary by Andrew Abrahams shining light on the real world stories of children and families living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, and their journeys through the healthcare system.

If you live with a hypermobility condition, we hope this documentary brings validation to your experience. If you are a carer, health professional, or someone who loves a person with hypermobility, we hope it deepens your understanding of what our journeys can look like.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be reinvested into CHA to directly support the Australian hypermobile community through initiatives including developing our clinician education program, building our new fit-for-purpose interdisciplinary clinic in Wollongong, funding flexible lived-experience roles and more.

Osteopathy can support the body in many ways - from easing compensatory tension and improving breathing mechanics, to supporting gut motility, lymphatic flow, vagal tone and neck stability. It helps reduce the compensations that hypermobile bodies build to feel safe.

If you’re living with HSD, EDS, UCI, vascular compression syndromes, gastrointestinal symptoms or autonomic dysfunction, osteopathy is an evidence-based physical therapy that can make a meaningful difference.

Meet Sam Slatem - our Osteopath at Connected Health Alliance, with a special interest in supporting hypermobile bodies.
