The Fire Permit Period for all of Tasmania will start tomorrow (Tuesday, 16 December 2025) – this means from 2am Fire Permits will be required across the state until the end of the 2025-26 bushfire season 🔥📃

If you have a property and you wish to conduct a burn (larger than 1 cubic metre in size) on your property, you will need to apply for a free Fire Permit by submitting an application online at fire.tas.gov.au or calling the Tasmania Fire Service on 1800 000 699

📲 During a Fire Permit Period:

📑 People intending to light a fire for burning vegetation or for a similar purpose must obtain a permit.

📑 People intending to light a fire at a sawmill or factory for burning wood waste or other flammable material must obtain a permit.

📑 People intending to light a fire for cooking, warmth or disposal of garden waste do not require a permit provided that:
❌ The fire is not lit in peat, humus or marram grass.
❌ The fire is attended by a responsible adult at all times until it is extinguished.
❌ All flammable material is removed for at least three metres radius from the fire.
❌ It is less than one cubic metre in size.

🔥 Reminder: It’s fire abatement Season 🔥

With warmer weather on the way, we’re reminding all landowners and occupiers to check their properties for potential fire hazards.

Now is the time to:

- Clear long grass, weeds and undergrowth
- Remove rubbish or flammable materials
- Check fence lines and paddocks
- Make sure firebreaks and access points are maintained

Keeping your property tidy helps protect you, your neighbours, and our wider community.

Council officers will be undertaking inspections over the coming weeks.

Thank you for doing your part to reduce fire risk this summer. Stay safe, Central Coast. 🌾🚒
