The VAU is proud to support our friends at Victorian Allied Health Professionals Association - VAHPA and Medical Scientists Association of Victoria members in their fight for fair pay and conditions. We see the care, compassion, skill and dedication of our allied health professionals, medical scientists, hospital pharmacists and psychologists and the brilliant work they do for Victorian patients. Its time the Victorian Government respected and valued their work.

MEN'S HEALTH WEEK

This week is Men’s Health Week. During the week, we think about the health challenges faced by first responders in Australia and worldwide, and promote awareness of new ways to improve the physical health, emotional wellbeing and the mental health of men and boys.

The ambulance industry has some of the highest rates of workplace injury.

Ambulance workers regularly have to battle to have a safe workplace, to have workcover claims accepted when they are injured, or to get an appropriate return to work plan.

But if you are a union member, you dont have to deal with it alone.

Another system failure that leads to paramedics and patient transport ambos being exposed to occupational violence.

Vital information sharing is a must in preventing assaults on ambulance workers.

“Not welcome lists” are leaving unwitting paramedics unloading violent or aggressive patients at hospital emergency departments for care, only to be turned away.
