Join Conservation Volunteers Australia and the Taperoo Dunes Group for a rewarding morning celebrating World Oceans Day!

Get your hands dirty and help native plants to thrive by being part of a large team effort to remove invasive weeds from the dunes.

Then enjoy a short stroll to the Coastal Native Food Plants Labyrinth, which showcases the diversity of local food plants, including 11 species that grow in the Taperoo Dunes. Louise from Learning with Labyrinths will facilitate a walk on the labyrinth path and guide a meditative and informative experience.

Finish off the morning with a complimentary morning tea with fellow nature lovers!

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Probus Clubs in Australia, South Australian Probus Club Presidents and a committee member were invited to attend a Reception at Government House hosted by Her Excellency, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia. There were over 120 in attendance. For our Club, it was fitting that David Simpson (who was responsible for our club’s formation) joined the Governor General for a photograph with our President Brian Wolfe and Committee Member Ruth Lock.

On Thursday, our guest speaker, Mike Smith, gave colourful and imaginative account of Australia’s wool industry and our ‘ride on the sheep’s back’.
He brought to life the introduction of the first Merino flock, Banjo Patterson and the legend of the jolly swagman. He also explained the tough shearing rules, the transition from blade to electric clippers and the auction of the prize ram that was sold for over 400 thousand dollars.
Mike is a polished, passionate and eloquent story teller, with plenty of firsthand knowledge and a wicked sense of humour.
