One of the great delights of orienteering is the opportunity to visit new and different places. The Alice Springs Masters Games in October definitely ticks that box.

Should be a wonderful opportunity to explore some very different terrain. The Orienteering event is being controlled Sue Cassanova, a former Australian WOC representative. Categories include Foot, Night Foot and Mountain Bike O'.

Compete, connect, and explore in the beautiful Red Centre at the 2026 Alice Springs Masters Games. Enter now for the Friendly Games!

Saturday is the NSW Sprint Champs at WSU and winning positions can be decided by seconds not minutes, so fast and accurate route choice decisions are a key component. To help prepare - consider spending 5 - 10 minutes on the routechoice game http://www.routechoicegame.com This simple game helps train the brain to identify and decide on the shortest path between two points on a map. Ideal for sprint maps as the obstacles are typically buildings or odd shapes. The more you play the more complex choices and obstacles the game will present.

Easter Orienteering Wrap up :

Garingal Orienteers made their way to beautiful Tasmania for a very busy weekend of Orienteering, combined Australian Championships for Sprint, Middle, Long and Relay disciplines and Australian 3 Day events.

We explored some lovely bits of bush, ran under the mostly blue skies and caught up with friends from all over Australia. Not all about the Orienteering, club members met for a casual BBQ dinner, wonderfully hosted at Mel Joseph’s parents house in Launceston (that’s pronounced Lon.. not Lawn… for all us mainlanders !)

Overall results for the 3 Day Competition

1st: Cooper Horley M20E
2nd: Wendy McConaghy W45AS
3rd: Steph Nicholls W55AS
6th: Melissa Joseph W50A
8th: Nikolett Halmai W40A
9th: Tania Kennedy W55A
11th: Warwick Selby M75A
12th: Arpad Kocsik M50A
12th: Nick Stanley M20E
13th Jamie Kennedy M60A
Not placed: Duncan Currie M21E
