Torrens parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8am in Adelaide, South Australia. parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old,

to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and get physically active at the same time. We want to encourage people to jog or
run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

It never rains at Torrens parkrun.

There is, however, the occasional unrelenting deluge of moisture falling from the sky.

And so it was today, with 134 brave souls turning up for the 682nd running of this mighty event.

As always, they were supported by volunteers who gave up not only their time, but if we’re being honest, a fair bit of their comfort to make the morning happen. Here they are standing proudly on the shores of Lake Ojo.

Because of the lower numbers today, our volunteer roster for next week is looking unusually sparse. If you can help out, please get in touch via Messenger or email at [email protected].

The results are up, but take note. We had a blip in the data set which has largely been fixed except for participants who ran between 22:30 and 25:00.

If you are in this group and believe you’ve been robbed of a PB, send us a pic of your running device time and we’ll see what we can do. But it has to be on the basis that you started your device exactly when we said go, and you stopped it exactly as you crossed the finish line. Also we reserve the option not to change any times if doing so creates a bigger problem across the data set.

As general guidance for participating in parkrun, it is not unusual for some times to be out, either because the participant started their own device later and stopped it earlier, or are simply mistaken (gasp), or because someone ducked out of the funnel, or went through twice etc. We are all volunteers and we do the best we can but we can’t crosscheck every time. So if your time looks different to what you expected, take it philosophically, and bathe in the gratitude of being part of a lively local community that gives you a free event every Saturday morning 🙂👍
