Another camp out last week for the Rangers with spectacular views we were successful looking for a rare plant and stumbled across some other little hidden gems along the way.

🌿 Sharing Knowledge to Support the Great Western Woodlands 🌿

Recently, Ngadju representatives Johnine Graham and Les Schultz, together with NNTAC GIS Specialist Nick Middleton, took part in a two-day workshop focused on the Great Western Woodlands.

Hosted by CSIRO in partnership with the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the workshop brought together Traditional Knowledge holders and ecological experts from across the region to share knowledge and experience about these important ecosystems.

Over the two days, participants explored the region’s eucalypt woodlands, mallee, shrublands and salt-lake systems, sharing knowledge about how these landscapes have changed over time and opportunities for restoration and recovery. 🌱

The knowledge gathered through the workshop will help inform ecological resources planned for release in 2027, supporting future biodiversity conservation and restoration across the Great Western Woodlands.

👏 Thank you to Johnine, Les and Nick for representing and contributing Ngadju knowledge and perspectives to these important conversations.

Sometimes capacity building is about the actual ‘buildings’. New camping and events trailer and some much needed ranger base upgrades delivered, a new fit-for-purpose vehicle on its way!

Thanks to Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and National Indigenous Australians Agency for supporting the significant rebuild of the fabulous Ngadju Bunna Rangers program.
