Marine Rescue Noosa Marine Rescue Noosa (formerly Coast Guard Noosa QF5) - dedicated to saving lives at sea and supporting those on or near the water.

In an emergency, always call Triple Zero (000) or radio VHF 16. Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) Noosa has a proud history of helping keep people safe across one of Queensland’s most popular boating regions. Formerly Coast Guard Noosa QF5, the unit is based at Munna Point in Noosaville, with generations of volunteers supporting the local boating community on the Noosa River and surrounding coastal waters. Our volunteers bring extensive local knowledge of the Noosa River, its lakes and the waters off the Sunshine Coast, including the unique conditions associated with crossing the Noosa Bar. The unit provides marine rescue and assistance services, supports safer boating and maintains a strong connection with the local community. The transition to Marine Rescue Queensland marks the beginning of a new chapter for the unit, while continuing the proud legacy established through decades of volunteer service. As MRQ Noosa, our volunteers remain committed to helping residents and visitors enjoy the region’s waterways safely and being there when assistance is needed.

Sometimes our Duty Crew gets asked to do something that is really “feel good”.

A young couple who met on a sandbar, a year earlier wanted to get married on a sand bar, in the river. They asked us to take them across to the sand bar opposite our base so that they could be married. Two of the crew acted as witnesses. The husband “to be” carried his lady to the sand so that her feet stayed dry! After the marriage they joined the crew for our normal Sunday morning “bridal” breakfast.

Whist not something we plan to do it meant that the crew had a “feel good” start to the day. Locals supporting locals!

Please take care when crossing the bar, think about the high tide timing and plan your trips so that you enough water! Remember to wear your life jackets!!
