Noosa Film Society The Noosa Film Society was established in 1979 to encourage interest in film as an art form. Films

The Society has an interest in showing films that are of high cinematic quality and/or of interest due to well informed content. We try to avoid films that are considered "mainstream" and we also like to screen a variety in terms of country of origin and format. The society also wishes to assist local festivals and often have screenings of short films and documentaries, full length animation, etc.

In general the committee tries to take into consideration the wishes of the membership, while at the same time providing films that are more challenging, but which reflect excellence in some particular field, such as screenplay, photography, historical interest, etc.

We had a great turn out at our 45th anniversary screenings of Hair and Mad Max on Sunday 20 October. Thanks, everyone, for creating the VIBE - plenty of tie dye, beads, suede and black leather floating up the cinema stairs! A big thank you to Jon Dowding, Mad Max’s Production Designer, who headed the Q & A and to Events Cinema management staff Demi Munch and Kaine Brooks for their professionalism in delivering this event.
