Dr Frere, a scientist at USC: University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, has been recognized for her USC Detection Dogs for Conservation unit that aids in the preservation of Australia's wildlife and ecosystems destroyed by bushfires. The award acknowledges scientists who are using their research to connect beyond the walls of the laboratory. Dr Frere outputs also helped the university acquire ‘well above world standard’ ratings in the Excellence in Research Australia benchmarking for ecology and environmental sciences.

Study Noosa's Jean Lukin Making her Mark!

Jean was accepted into a double degree in Arts and Law at UQ after graduating from St Teresa's Catholic College in 2010. While pursuing her undergrad, she intertwined studying with periods of time spent in Canada and Paris. Working in Paris' fashion district as well as volunteering for the Global Pact for the Environment; an organisation focused on reinforcing and upholding International Environmental Law. Continuing her passion for making a difference to the environment and community Jean now practices Environment, Planning and Native Title Law in the Sunshine Coast.
