We exist for the sole purpose to help and save the lives of pets and in this way help people in need. Every purchase you make helps another pet.

It started with an idea that EVERYONE should be able to have a pet. We all know how important pets are in our lives. Many don’t realise that every day disadvantaged and vulnerable pet owners across Australia have their loved pets die from a preventable disease. Meaning they lose their best friend forever. Want to stop preventable disease in pets, especially for disadvantaged and vulnerable owners.

We realised that Social Problems were keeping people from their pets, or causing them unnecessary disease, pain and sadness. We decided that to find a Social Solution. We raise awareness and funds with our pet products to stop the sadness. We are now addressing preventable pet disease through scientific research and projects. Together with our growing community of supporters we are changing the world for pets and people, for the better.

Paws for a Purpose is now made with love by the Cherished Pets Foundation. Our mission is to bring joy to pets and people and purpose to every purchase of the treats.

We produce high-quality, all-natural beef treats that pets love, while using the profits to support the vital work of the Cherished Pets Foundation, providing veterinary care and social services for pets and people in need.

Originally founded in 2016 by a group of passionate veterinarians and animal advocates, including Dr Mark Kelman, Dr Michael O'Donoghue, Dr Victoria Hogg, and Tracey Rai, Paws for a Purpose was an independent charity created to make the world a better place for pets and their loving families. With a mission to channel profits into projects supporting pets and people, the organisation quickly built a reputation for meaningful impact and quality products.

In 2024, Paws for a Purpose wound up and transferred all operations to Cherished Pets Foundation, aligning the business with our mission of strengthening the human-animal bond. Cherished Pets Foundation ensures the legacy of Paws for a Purpose continues, helping even more pets and their people stay together through life’s challenges and supporting meaningful projects that support animal welfare.

Our Story

Buy your pets premium products that help them lend their paws to a purpose.

In Australia, thousands of families struggle to care for their pets — the homeless, elderly, and forgotten. Pets go hungry, unwashed and unvaccinated. At Paws for a Purpose, we let you care for others’ while caring for yours — delivering products with proceeds going towards causes that deprive the disadvantaged of their companions.

Causes like stopping canine parvovirus. Untreated, the mortality rate of parvo can reach 91%. Its symptoms include vomiting and bloody diarrhea — symptoms that many do not recognize until it’s too late. We’re working with vets across Australia to raise awareness, and make sure more come through the door for vaccination, not euthanization. Profits raised from our Premium Beef Treats — a 100% Australian, wholly-organic product — go towards providing vaccinations to families that can’t afford it. Help us help make parvo history.
