Thanks to a minor CBF grant from the NT govt, our new mattresses and anti bacterial mattress and pillow covers have all arrived! This Saturday at 9:30 am we are going to start the big job of putting the covers on and swapping everything over! If anyone can come and give us a hand that’d be great! Cold water, nibbles(& possibly scones if I get time for morning tea! Message [email protected] if you can help/need further info! Thanks

And more great news!!! We applied for and were successful in gaining a $14 000 CBF Minor grant through the NT Govt, to replace 25 of the bottom beds in each room with brand new high quality mattresses that will be fitted with Made to measure antibacterial, waterproof, breathable, flame retardant, stretchable, wipe down mattress covers and pillow covers. This will be a significant upgrade to the comfort level of our dorms. With a contribution from our own funds to “top up” the grant money we will be able to do all 35 bottom beds. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity that the NT govt offers not for profit community organisations. We hope to have all this in place by the end of March, so if you are using Riyala once this is done, let us know what you think of the improvements to the bedding!

Thanks to a generous donation from Palmerston Uniting Church Op Shop we have ordered some new “Riyala suitable” arm chairs and some additional dining chairs. We will add some stylish cushions to the new arm chairs and (eventually) a mahogany slab coffee table (or 2!). This will standardise the dining room area and solve the mould problem we have numerous times throughout the Wet season!!!
Riyala is a not for profit incorporated organisation and relies on volunteers and donations. We are incredibly thankful to Palmerston Uniting Church op shop for their faithfulness and generosity towards Riyala. 🙏🏼

A HUGE “thank-you” to the team of volunteers who came together to make the Top End Native Plant Society/Riyala Open day a huge success. With almost 550 people through the gate it was a very busy day for us! In the days prior there was considerable clean up to do after Cyclone Fina but the grounds and tracks were looking great! So good to connect with people who have had previous associations with Riyala and to meet many new people who previously didn’t know we existed! To our volunteers - the day wouldn’t have happened without you. Thank you!
Some pics that Ian Morris managed to take in between leading three groups on our 2 km walking trail!

Our 2026 calendars have arrived and are available for purchase … $25 each. This is one of our main fundraising ventures each year. Last year we sold out …. So get in early this year! You can message us through Facebook to place your order …. Or if you are local to Darwin/rural area and would like to take some to sell on our behalf at your church, please let us know! If you would like a board member to come to your church and talk about Riyala (and sell calendars) then also please contact us and we’ll try to arrange that to happen! Once again thanks for your support!
