HAPPY NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

This week we celebrate the incredible volunteers who help make Scouting possible, and here at Moodemere Scout Group we are so lucky to have such a dedicated team supporting our youth members each and every week.

Our leaders volunteer countless hours planning activities, organising and attending camps, running programs and creating opportunities for our young people to build confidence, learn new skills and make lifelong memories.

Being a Scout Leader is an incredibly rewarding experience and a wonderful way to help local young people grow and thrive. If you have ever considered getting involved, please speak to your section leaders or Shelley (Bilby) for a chat about becoming a helper or leader.

THANKS TO KEYSBOROUGH BOUNCE FOR SUPPORTING OUR GROUP!

Huge news everyone! We're thrilled to announce that Moodemere Scout Group has been selected as a BOUNCE Local Legends Community Connector for upcoming Term 3 2026!

As one of a select group of local clubs chosen to partner with BOUNCE Keysborough, our youth members will be be enjoying some pretty exciting perks and some sponsored visits to Bounce as part of our section programs up until the end of October - more details coming soon! 👀

A huge thank you to the team at Keysborough for having us - we can't wait to make the most of this partnership and bring something a little different to our community this year.

WE LOVE OUR MOODEMERE MUMS (AND ALL THE SPECIAL PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT OUR GROUP)!

This week at Cubs we took some time to celebrate and thank the amazing mums, grandparents and special people who support our youth members each and every week.

Across the evening there were games, craft, plenty of fun and laughter, before our youth members proudly served supper to their mums and special guests. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying time together around the hall and recognising the important role families play within our Moodemere community.

We love you Moodemere Mums and special people!

ANZAC DAY 2026

Yesterday, Moodemere Scout Group was proud to see youth members, Leaders, and parents from across all sections come together to honour ANZAC Day.

From attending the Dawn Service in the city and marching in the Melbourne parade, to proudly representing our Group in the local Dandenong march, it was fantastic to see so many members involved in remembering and reflecting on the service and sacrifice of others.

ANZAC Day is an important opportunity for our young people to show respect, community spirit, and gratitude, and we are proud of the way they represented Scouting and our Group.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT - 30th of May!

Hopefully everyone is enjoying the break for the holidays and recovering from Easter chocolate binges.

Get those calendars out - our annual Family Fun Night is scheduled again for the 30th of May!

Lots of fun, family, games, tasty platters and activities for you and your friends - all for a good cause supporting our Group.

We’re still a little while off which gives you time to gather your friends to build a table so no one misses out on the fun!

SOUNDS LIKE FUNDRAISING - Approaching $3,000 raised via the Container Deposit Scheme!

Moodemere has been a supporter lf the CDS initiative since it began in Victoria with great effect.

We have recently completed a few runs out to Scouts Victoria CDS Mount Waverley depot to drop off the eligible containers as part of our group fundraising efforts. The Scouts Victoria CDS Mount Waverley team are always incredibly helpful (especially Sean who is also one of the awesome Lord Casey Rovers)

As always, a huge thank you to our friends at Noble Park Bowls Club and some offices within local police for keeping their containers for us to cash in, which further supports the work by our youth members and group families.

This fundraising is a team effort, and we genuinely appreciate our group leaders and many parent helpers who give their time helping with packaging/ sorting and dropping off the containers and have plans to continue to grow our use of this program as we go forward.

This fundraising goes to supporting and enhancing the program, equipment and facilities we are able to provide for the youth members of our group!

Any and all container donations welcome! If you are taking straight to a depot make sure to punch in the Moodemere donation partner ID to send the money straight to the group.

TERM ONE ALMOST DONE! A FANTASTIC START TO THE YEAR AT MOODEMERE!

Can you believe Term 1 is almost over and the Easter school holidays are days away! We have been so busy getting out and about at Moodemere that we haven't had a second to update here, but it's time to reflect on a fantastic start to 2026 with lots of fun out and about in the warm summer evenings.

All sections have been incredibly busy over the past term, with beach nights, wetlands walks, cycling, train travels, camping skills, plenty of badge work and the welcoming of many new youth members with investitures across all sections! Congratulations to all youth members who have completed different aspects of their badgework during this time as well!

We volunteered at Clean Up Australia Day to help improve our local area, and everyone enjoyed a Grouip Camp at Harkaway with a range of activities, challenges and tasks to help our youth members grow their confidence and independence.

As always, a HUGE thankyou to our amazing leaders who genersouly donate their time to improve the lives of our youth members, and also to our committee and many helpful families for their ongoing fundraising efforts to support our group.

Over recent weeks we have also met with City of Greater Dandenong council and are excited to have their support, with carpark works around our hall to commence over the coming weeks to improve accessibility to the hall and to replenish the weathered bitumen.

All in all another fantastic term at Moodemere Scout Group. With one week to go, we hope everyone enjoys the school holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 2!!

SUMMER WALKS, CELEBRATION AND MAGIC!

On Monday night our Joey and Cub sections met for a joint night at nearby Roth Hetherington Reserve, Noble Park assisted by our fantastlic Leaders and Venturers

A beautiful reserve, the youth members enjoyed an environment walk and discussion amongst the garden beds which hold native plants for many different Australian states.

Following the walk, the leaders lead a discussion around Founders day and the youth members enjoyed some fairy bread in celebration of Baden-Powell’s birthday.

Next, we celebrated Caydens efforts as be was presented with his Joey Scout Award - congratulations!!! The night got even bigger for Cayden as he officially said goodbye to his Joey mates and was welcomed up to Scouts through a special carriage by some of our fantastic Venturers. Welcome to Cubs and all the best for the next part of your Scouting journey.

To round out the night, the youth members enjoyed a social play on the playground and one of the Cubs performed a magic trick that he had spent time learning to earn a Special Interest Area badge.

Thanks to everyone for a beautiful summer night in Noble Park spending time togeher and completing badge work.

This Sunday we are again participating in Clean Up Australia Day - stay tuned for more information on the weekend as Moodemere continues its service to the local community.ic

WE'RE BACK FOR 2026!

Moodmere is back for 2026, it was so good to see our Joeys and Murnong Venturers - Scouts Vic getting straight into the swing of it last night!

This year promises another year of great activities and an exciting program for our Youth members, lead by our fantastic leaders.

We also look forward to working closely with Lord Casey Rover Unit who area fantastic group of young adults who work with Moodemere and also run their own program full of adventure and great social activities.

There's never been a better time to get youf family involved in Scouts either as youth members, Rovers or leaders! Message us today to learn more about how you can become involved in this fantastic community!
