Like wildflowers, young artists grow in unexpected places! πŸ’βœ¨

WILDFLOWERS is this year's Raise the Roof showcase, featuring more than 50 young creatives from Corrugated Iron's workshop program. Expect circus, theatre, music, aerial, big ideas, strange ideas, works in progress, happy accidents and magic moments. Some performances have been months in the making. Others are just starting to bloom. For some, it's their first live performance.

Packed with short-form works, fresh ideas and whatever else has been growing in the rehearsal room, WILDFLOWERS celebrates creativity in all its messy glory.

31 years ago today, BRANDED closed its season.

Presented by Corrugated Iron Youth Theatre at Nightcliff Youth & Community Centre in August 1995, BRANDED an original musical directed by Maggie Miles featured a cast of young NT performers, including a teenage Ursula Yovich and our current Creative Producer (Programs), Benhur Helwend.

Thirty-one years later, it's remarkable to see where those creative journeys have led. Ursula Yovich has become one of Australia's most acclaimed performers and storytellers, recently returning to Darwin Festival with Ursula Yovich Sings Nina Simone, Maggie Miles went to be an acclaimed writer, director and film producer, and Benhur Helwend, now a NIDA graduate, musician and theatre-maker, has come full circle and returned to Corrugated Iron to help create opportunities for a new generation of young artists.

The names have evolved too. Corrugated Iron Youth Theatre is now Corrugated Iron Youth Arts, and the Nightcliff Youth & Community Centre is now the Nightcliff Community Centre. What remains unchanged is the impact of giving young people a place to create, take risks and discover their potential as an artist.
