Our Seniors Group gathers every Tuesday throughout the year (with a short break between Christmas and New Year), from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in our Parish and Community Hall (behind the Church).
Each week, our seniors participate in a vibrant and enriching programme organised by GWC Community Services of our Holy Archdiocese. The programme includes music, dance, exercise, as well as engaging talks, special interest presentations and enjoyable outings - all of which foster fellowship, promote wellbeing, and strengthen a sense of community.
Today, 17th February 2026, the Sanctification Service was conducted to mark the beginning of the New Year. We gathered in prayer, asking our Lord to grant health, strength and His abundant grace to all our seniors and those who serve and care for them.
May God grant them many blessed and healthy years!

GWC Community Services organises 3-4 Volunteer Training Courses each year. They are free-of-charge and conducted in both Greek and English, with the training running over 3 consecutive weeks.
The first session for this round will be on Tuesday 3 March and will continue over the following two Tuesdays.
It will take place at:
St. Stephanos Greek Orthodox Church
650 New Canterbury Rd Hurlstone Park from 9:30am - 12:30pm.
If you would like to use your free time in a meaningful way, offer valuable assistance to others, or learn new skills for employment opportunities, then this course is for you.
As well as benefits for our organisation, there are many benefits for our volunteers: increased self-confidence, social outlets, opportunities for self-development and more.
Statement of the Archbishop of Australia and the Holy Eparchial Synod on the Terrorist Attack in Sydney
His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia condemns the terrorist attack at Bondi in Sydney which, according to the preliminary findings of the authorities, resulted in the death of twelve people and the injury of at least twenty-nine others. His Eminence stresses that “every act that violates the sanctity of human life is reprehensible, even more so when it undermines our peaceful coexistence, which constitutes a fundamental achievement of Australian society.”
The full statement of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia is as follows:
“I express my profound grief over the mass-casualty terrorist attack in Sydney, which occurred during a gathering for the Jewish feast of Hanukkah.
Every act that violates the sanctity of human life is reprehensible, even more so when it undermines our peaceful coexistence, which constitutes a fundamental achievement of Australian society. We are all obliged to struggle resolutely against every form of intolerance, fanaticism, and violence, and to proclaim unequivocally that whoever kills while invoking God does not serve their faith but betrays it. There can be no sanctity in murder.
On behalf of the Holy Eparchial Synod and the plenitude of the faithful of our Holy Archdiocese, I unequivocally condemn the heinous crime perpetrated today in Sydney; I pray for the repose of the souls of the victims; and express our unwavering solidarity with their grieving families and loved ones, as well as with the entire Jewish Community. Our thoughts are also with those who have been injured and are receiving medical care, to whom we offer our heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery.”

CALD Connections in Cancer
GWC was proud to take part in the CALD Connections in Cancer initiative — reaching out to hospitals and connecting with patients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
This initiative created a warm and inclusive space where people could meet local service providers who understand their culture, connect with others from similar backgrounds, share experiences and build supportive community networks.
