About Launceston Chin Community Inc. ,Launceston Chin Community Inc., formerly known as Burmese Community, is a community based non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization founded in 2013 to represent and promote interests of members of the local Chin community in Launceston Region, who arrived in Australia as genuine refuges from Burma (Myanmar) via Malaysia, India,
and Thailand. The Organization also provides a wide range of supports and runs activities for the community living in the Launceston region, and works to promote greater knowledge of local integration and maintaining the Chin culture. Launceston Chin Community Inc. is not funded by any third party organisation or Government, it is self funded organisation. Our community works and expenses are either funded by its community members or Community workers/Community leaders contributions. All expenses towards the project Including Office rents, Workshops etc are covered by Launceston Chin Community Inc. We welcome any contribution towards our projects for those who want to support us. The Organization’s main objectives are:
- To preserve and promote the Chin culture and literature
- To provide social supports and activities for the Chin community
- To look after the social well-being of the Chin community. Regular Activities for Empowering Community:
In collaboration with the Local community member and Leaders, the organization provides Yrs 1-10 Multiple Chin language & Burmese Language classes at Provided Vennue by Chin Community around Mowbray Area. In addition, to promote greater knowledge of the Chin language, culture and its tradition. Annually, LCC Inc., runs Chin National Day on 20 February,
English Language program (September - October). Launceston Chin Community Inc., is closely working with local service providers such as Health Services and Settlement Services, local authority. It also participates in local festivals and providing funeral services and social supports for its members and holds cultural events, sport activities, educational and cultural seminars for the Chin community living in Launceston Region. We recently setup Launceston Chin Center office located in Mowbray. Launceston Chin Community Center is part of Launceston Chin Community Inc. About Community Center:
Chin Community center is setup base on the need of Chin People in Launceston. Most of the community members have either speak and write little english or can't read and write at all. 80% of chin populations in Launceston area have never been to school, until they resettlement in Australia. Due to the uneducated background ,all members are relying on Community Support workers. Community Support Workers:
All our workers are Volunteers worker. Some of the community volunteers worker have work with community since 2007 as full time Volunteer Support Workers. Service Provided are as Follow:

2) Filling Application forms (Schools, Works etc)
3) Banking (Mortgage, Lost of Bank Card, Account issue etc.)
4) Funeral services and social supports for its members and holds cultural events.
5) Workshop & Information Center
6) Resettlement transition (Moving house, Rent, Centerlink etc)
