Newman is making progress, and it's happening because people are working together.

Monday’s Newman Futures Xchange brought together Aboriginal organisations, community leaders, government agencies, service providers and industry partners to reflect on what's been achieved and where we go next.

The discussion highlighted the progress being made across Newman, including investment in key worker and remote community housing, action to reduce long-term vacant properties, funding to progress the Light Industrial Area and continued revitalisation of East Newman through new facilities, greening initiatives and community infrastructure.

These achievements reflect the collective effort of organisations working together around a shared vision for Newman’s future.

The focus is now on maintaining momentum and continuing to deliver the priorities that will support a thriving future for Newman.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion and continues to play a role in shaping Newman's future.

Big news for Newman and the Pilbara. 🏠

The WA Government and BHP have announced $45 million for housing through the RCII. $30M for new homes in remote communities (led with Traditional Owners) and $15M to turn up to 40 vacant East Newman houses into homes for essential workers like childcare, retail and hospitality staff.

This is housing our community has advocated for, for years, and a big step for East Newman. More to come. 💪

It’s great to see the State Budget announcement for the delivery of 16 new industrial lots in Newman! This investment will support local business growth and create further opportunity for Newman to continue supporting the region.

A big thank you to the Shire of East Pilbara, Newman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, DevelopmentWA and local Newman businesses for their collaboration to achieve this outcome for Newman.

We look forward to seeing the opportunities this will unlock for local businesses and the broader community.

When organisations work together towards a common goal, great things get done.

This is exactly what happened at Newman Bring a Bill Day at Boomerang Park last month.

Services from all over the Pilbara and Western Australia came together to support Newman residents, with free advice about saving on bills, paying taxes, housing, legal matters and other important issues.

A big thank you to Pilbara Community Legal Services for organising the day, as well as Westpac, the Shire of East Pilbara, BHP and all of the services that delivered support.

Thank you to the Newman Women’s Shelter for cooking up a free barbecue, Kuuwa Rentals for supplying the Tucker Truck and Curtin University for donating the meat.
