🚘🛻 Big things are coming to Honeysuckle, and it starts in the Throsby commuter car park 🚗🚙

To inform Newcastle Quay’s design, investigations are needed into underground conditions on the site. During October and November, workers will complete ground testing, including drilling test holes, at various locations in the temporary commuter car park.

Things to note:
🟢 Small sections of the car park (typically 4 car spaces) will be closed at a time and reopened when testing is complete.
🟢 Affected areas will change from day to day.
🟢 Each area will be clearly marked and fenced.

This should only create minor disruptions to parking, but we ask that car park users and pedestrians take care around workers and equipment on site.

Over the next 15 years, Newcastle Quay will be transformed into a magnetic, mixed-use destination with day-to-night cultural, hospitality and entertainment offerings. This testing is the first step.

Demolition works at Queens Wharf West will start soon, marking the next stage in transforming the area into a renewed waterfront destination.

The western building, heavily damaged by fire, will be safely demolished starting in July 2026. The works will take up to six months, depending on weather and site conditions.

There will be temporary access changes in the area during the work. This includes brief detours for walkers and cyclists. Wharf Road will stay open, and ferry services are anticipated to run as normal. Signage will be in place to guide you safely through the area.

While demolition progresses, we’re also exploring long-term uses for the site. Thank you for your patience as we carry out this important work.
