Newy parkrun A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 8am in Throsby Creek, Newcastle. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer. Clean up after you dog!

It's free. It's timed and it's every Saturday at 8am. Whether you’re a sprinter, a jogger or plodder, you’re welcome to join in the fun. The event starts and finishes near the Newcastle Rowers Club shed at Carrington (water end of Arnold St). Simply jump onto the website to become a global parkrun member or go to the Newy parkrun website for full details:

Once registered, you can print your personal barcode and bring it along each week to record a finish time. You can use the same barcode at any of the 800+ parkrun locations around the World or 165+ across Australia. But remember, no barcode, no result - ie: if you forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode, you can still participate but you will NOT record a finish time against your name. Arrive before 7.50am for a "first-timers" brief and we’ll give you the full “run” down in person. parkrun is totally free, but we ask that you volunteer at least 2-3 times per year.

- Strollers are welcome
- No bikes or scooters (walkers/runners/strollers only)
- Children are encouraged but absolutely must be accompanied by an adult if under 11yo
- Dogs - well behaved, well controlled dogs on a short lead are welcome (one per runner/walker).

5th September 2026

What a lovely morning to run a milestone! And today we had 2 lovely 500 milestone milestones to celebrate.
Congratulations to Steve Atkins and Julie Hughes on your celebrations!

This week 672 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 75 were first timers and 61 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 32 different clubs took part.

Of our 75 first timers, 31 ran their first ever parkrun and 44 were first time visitors. Welcome everyone.
OUr visitors were from : Kawana, The Entrance, Coburg, Centennial, Studley, Holyrood (Scotland), Wauchope, Forster, Chelmsford Central (UK), North Wollongong, Shonweni (Sth Africa), Italy.

The event was made possible by 23 volunteers:

There were a few small falls today, nothing major, but please be mindful of uneven ground around the 1.5-1.7 mark when you could be distracted by a crowd of returning parkrunners.

Thank you for the respectful quietness during the brief. It was very noticeable today and allows us to quickly pass all messages on.

What can you expect at Newy parkrun?

Last Saturday Sunil visited us and completed his 100th different parkrun location. Tonight he emailed us to thank us for a great morning and to send us a link to a video he made of his visit.
He can answer all your questions - except one - no, We do not have a carpark!! The carpark next to our starting line is for the sole use of the Rowing Club.
Enjoy this run around our fabulous course and we look forward to seeing you in the morning.
