Siblings Australia have some helpful events coming up to support siblings.

Many teenagers who have a brother or sister with disability, chronic illness, or additional needs can carry responsibilities and emotions that often go unseen. Having a space where they feel understood by peers can make a meaningful difference.

That’s why Siblings Australia offers a TeenSib Space, our free monthly online peer connection group created especially for teen siblings.

TeenSib Space provides a calm, low-pressure environment where young people can connect with others who understand sibling life, share experiences, and build a sense of belonging.

Here’s what’s coming up:

TeenSib Junior (13–15 years)
🗓 Sunday 14th June
⏰ 3:00pm (SA)
⏰ 3:30pm (QLD, NSW, VIC & TAS)
⏰ 1:30pm (WA)

TeenSib Senior (15–17 years)
🗓 Sunday 14th June
⏰ 4:30pm (SA)
⏰ 5:00pm (QLD, NSW, VIC & TAS)
⏰ 3:00pm (WA)

Sessions are facilitated by a TeenSib Counsellor, with a TeenSib Coordinator available in the background if needed, helping keep the space safe, supportive, and peer-led.

What participants can expect:

✨ Online via Microsoft Teams
✨ Warm, welcoming facilitation
✨ Connection with others who understand
✨ No pressure to share
✨ Free to attend

For parents, carers, educators, counsellors and allied health professionals this may be a valuable opportunity to share.

Don’t miss Dr Angela Amado's workshop hosted in Newcastle by Hunter Circles!

In her recent interview with Team DSC, Angela spoke powerfully about what helps relationships grow:

“Seeing the same people in the same places over time, having meaningful interactions. Not just people with disabilities being present, but some way to really powerfully interact.”

This gets to the heart of belonging - not just being present, but being known, respected and part of community.

Join this practical one-day workshop with Angela exploring friendship, inclusion and what it takes to build real connection in ordinary community life.

Exhausted families could be plunged further into crisis and have greater interaction with child protection services under the proposed overhaul of the NDIS, advocates say.
