ive you more information about our club. Please note however it costs nothing to come along as a visitor to the meeting and see what we do - you are most welcome! If you are not a member of Souths Leagues you can sign in at reception. At our meetings all members get various assignments to do with;

1. Rehearsed Speaking - giving a short 1-2 minute toast or inspirational story, presenting a prepared 5-7 minute speech, telling a joke etc.

2. Impromptu Speaking - speaking for up to one minute in an impromptu fashion.

3. Listening and Feedback.

4. Leadership - running parts of the meeting. Each member progresses at a rate that they are comfortable with - growth in self confidence, communication and leadership skills can not be learned in a day, a week or a month - it is a gradual process that takes practice [for which Toastmasters provides great guidelines] and the help of others. Our club membership varies from nervous newcomers to highly experienced members - we all have one thing in common - we have all struggled with public speaking. We provide mutual support for each other to increase confidence and enhance our skills following a tried and tested format. While our main aim is to improve our self confidence in communication and leadership we also like to have fun so most meetings are fun and friendly - importantly we laugh with each other not at each other. The cost of being in Toastmasters has two parts;

1. which gives you lifetime membership to Toastmasters International,

2. every 6 months to be a financial member of Newcastle Toastmasters - you may join as many Toastmasters Clubs as you want to [fees may vary by club]. For most taxpayers these fees would be claimable against tax as self improvement to enhance career prospects. Visitors are always welcome! We look forward to the opportunity of meeting you at our next meeting. Please find our Meeting place, dates and times under General Information.
