Who we are –
Amputees Newcastle are Volunteers who freely and willingly provide Peer Support to fellow amputees of all types. We support all amputees, new and the not so new, and can simply listen to concerns, difficulties and fears and discuss current or future issues with our own experiences as reference and guidance. We do NOT offer medical advice, and cannot predict what will be possible as all amputees have vastly different contributing factors and mindsets, no two amputee journeys are the same.
We welcome and invite amputees and their partners/carers to join us as members, and those interested in participation in our Peer Support work would be encouraged to get in touch, Amputee Peer Support training is provided.
Amputees Newcastle is a non-profit, self-help style local community organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting the needs of amputees, family, friends and carers.
Our goal is to ensure that nobody goes through limb loss alone and that everyone has access to information and support they need to move towards reaching their goals, no matter how big or small. We try to provide a range of services and activities for individuals, families and the wider amputee community..
Our roles include:
• Peer support
• Information relevant to limb loss or limb difference
• Social outings, events.
• Advocacy
Amputee support groups aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals living with limb loss or limb difference as well as their family members. They are an invaluable resource to learn and share with others who have overcome similar challenges and setbacks.
Anyone interested or with questions should contact the President, Mr David Windeyer on , the Secretary, Mr Jeff Green on 0418 218236 or via email at [email protected] .

Hi all, time for a long overdue update!!! Amputees Newcastle continues it's core role of providing Amputee Peer Support at Rankin Park, John Hunter and elsewhere as requested. Sadly there's no shortage of clients and we usually engage with anything upward of 6 - 8 people each week, and we are well supported by the Staff we interact with. Around April we will be acknowledging 50 years of Service by our group and will hold a modest function to recognise the achievements made in this time, e.g. the establishment of the Hunter Limb Centre was the result of our founders and members working for it from 1976 on. We will advise the date, time, location when all is confirmed. Past members are encouraged to attend, as well as any interested Amputees & Associates. A brief bio is included below, and please don't hesitate to enquire about anything including joining our team. With sincere thanks, J Green Secretary.

The page below, is legitimate, and just takes few minutes and you can choose from a list of recipients that receive the $5 donation. (We are at the top of the list :) ) You will not be subject to ongoing marketing trash etc, so if you can spare a few moments we would appreciate it!
With Thanks

From our President:

Please be regretfully advised that founding, life, and long term member John Newton has passed away this morning (Wed 4-12-24). After being admitted to hospital then transferred to a care facility, John's health continued to decline rapidly in recent weeks. David was advised by Darrell Sparke and we will provide further information when it becomes available. John turned 81 yesterday.

John should be remembered for his contribution to the greater amputee community, and the various associations and roles he has acted in over many years.

Vale John Newton OAM/BEM/JP (Ret.)

Respectfully & Sincerely

Jeff Green JP
