The Malipai work continues...
Recently we held a graduation ceremony in the Philippines for 33 students who have graduated from university during 2024 and 2025.
As we have been unable to visit the Philippines due to Trevor’s health, Jayne and Simon Drinkwater, friends of Malipai, went over to be there for the graduation and do some training of our students. They are both very qualified in business and leadership roles and are being a huge benefit to our students.
All of our 2024 graduates now have employment and we are so happy about that - it is good for them and their families.
We have several fundraisers and our usual Garden Party coming up rapidly.
14 September- Concert
On Sunday 14th September, a concert fundraiser will be held at the Kahibah Sports Club and is sponsored by the Thrive BNI group who have been a great supporter of Malipai.
This will be a family event and very entertaining with a band playing in concert along with other activities to entertain us during an enjoyable few hours in the afternoon from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. More details will follow.
26 October- Garden Party
The Garden party is on again at the Newcastle Club on Sunday 26th October commencing at 1pm through to around 4pm. This is always a very informative event with good food and drinks and a chance to find out more of what Malipai is doing. Please make every effort to be a part of this event as it helps you know so much about the work of Malipai, our staff and students.
And beside all that, it is thoroughly enjoyable.
Early Next Year - Run
Early next year one of our incredible sponsors, David McIlwain, previously of Gentleman’s Outfitters in Newcastle, will be doing a run from Fern Bay to Nelson Bay to raise funds for Malipai.
David invites anyone who would like to run with him to talk with him at the Garden party or through us.
These events are so important because, if you can imagine, when a student is sponsored, that young person leaves a life of poverty and begins a new life with education behind them.
It changes their world.

In the meantime, we will continue to stay true to our mission helping people help themselves.
