Newcastle Master Builders Apprentices Connecting local businesses with skilled building Apprentices in Newcastle, Hunter Valley & beyond.

The MBA Group Training Scheme is a not-for-profit company, which employs apprentices, trainees and other staff to provide structured training opportunities (particularly in the Building and Construction industries) through rotation with a range of host employers -many of which are small companies that do not have the capacity to recruit and train apprentices and trainees themselves. Current training employment areas covered by our Group Scheme are:

Apprenticeships:
•Bricklaying
•Construction Carpentry
•Carpentry and Joinery
•Solid Plastering-Cement Rendering
•Painting and Decorating
•Tiling Wall and Floor
•Electrical
•Electrotechnology Assembly and Services
•Plumbing, Gas Fittings & Drainage
•Roof Tiling
•Plastering, Fibrous & Plaster-boards

Traineeships:
•Business (Office Administration) Certificates II, III
•Furnishing-Surface finishing operations Certificate II
•Retail Operations Certificate II
•Business Access Certificate II
•Construction Waterproofing Certificate III
•Blinds, Awnings, Security Screens and Grilles III

Our scholarship program backs students who are keen on a career in building and construction so you’re set up for success when you’re ready to start your trade.

✅ Who can apply: Full-time students commencing Year 10 or 11 in 2027.
📅 Applications close: 11th December 2026
🔨 What you'll gain: Up to 10 weeks of onsite work placement in your chosen trade, financial support, tool kit, toolbox, uniform & PPE.

No apprentice arrives knowing it all (if only!). There’s skills to learn, lengths to measure twice and the occasional “that doesn’t look quite right.”🤞

With NMBA in their corner, skills built at TAFE, and you as the host employer willing to put in time, effort and a little patience, you’ll have a skilled tradie in the making before you know it.

Luke shared his personal journey and the lessons he’s learnt along the way, connecting with our Apprentices on their level and equipping them with practical strategies to navigate life’s challenges.

We’re incredibly grateful to Luke for the positive impact he had on our Apprentices, Host Employers and office team. Thank you for sharing your story and reminding us of the importance of looking after ourselves and each other. 💡 🥾

🚨 OCTOBER SAFETY BULLETIN 🚨
😴 Tired? Don’t push through.

Fatigue can affect your concentration, reaction time, decision-making and ability to work safely. It can increase the risk of mistakes, near misses and injuries on site.

Long days, early starts, physical work, poor sleep and busy schedules can all contribute.

Look after yourself, look out for your mates and don’t underestimate fatigue.

Work safe. Get home safe. 👷‍♂️

👥 We work with you to find someone who's a better match
