Last month, we welcomed some of our incredible volunteers, fundraisers, and supporters into the HBCF office for a special morning tea during National Volunteers Week 💗
It was a chance to pause, connect, say thank you, and celebrate the people who give so much to our community every day.
We also heard from the wonderful Chloe Blake, who led a powerful session on mental fitness, burnout prevention, and the importance of “filling your own cup first". She shared practical tools and strategies to help our volunteers manage stress and protect their wellbeing while continuing to care for others.
It was also incredibly special to hear from HBCF founding member Jane Harris, who, 27 years on, is still volunteering with us today.
Jane shared how our Transport to Treatment Program began after hearing of a local woman needing two buses at 6am and another two home just to attend chemotherapy. That moment sparked action - and the volunteer-led program was born.
Today, it provides more than 1,400 patient transports each year for local people facing breast cancer across the Hunter.
Thank you to all of our volunteers for your time, compassion, and continued support. We are so grateful for everything you do!
