Disability advocate Stevie Wills shares this poem to speak to the importance of humanitarian aid in establishing a safer world for all, “a world where all can be who they can be.”

Whilst we welcome the Albanese Government holding the line on foreign aid, Stevie’s words highlight the importance of our continued advocacy to push for the aid budget to be restored to 1% of the federal budget.

During this year’s Micah Women’s Dinner Tour, over 1,000 women who care deeply about justice and the state of our world came together for an evening of learning and action.

With over 300 million people around the world in need of humanitarian assistance today, these crises can often feel overwhelming or isolating.

But there is something you can do.

Add your voice in support of Australian Aid and join our National Heads of Churches and over 1,000 women from across the country who have already said, “We support Australian Aid.”

This week, during an ACFID CEO Roundtable, we had the opportunity to present the Minister for International Development, Dr Anne Aly, with the banner signed during the Micah Women’s Network Dinner Tour.

The banner has been signed by the Heads of Churches and more than 1,000 Christian women from around the country who have shown their support of Australian Aid.

Minister Aly reflected that “It was a valuable chance to discuss our shared vision for a kinder, safer world — and to recognise the important work that our partners in the development sector do every day.”

The second leg of the Micah Women’s Network Dinner Tour came to a meaningful close in Launceston, Sydney and Brisbane, bringing together women from across the country who were eager to connect, learn, and be equipped to use their voices for justice.

Across these events, women grappled with the big misconception around Australian Aid. Most Australians dramatically overestimate how much we spend, with many assuming it accounts for 10–14% of the federal budget, when in reality it is less than 1%.

In response, women showed their support for our Aid program adding their voices to the “We Support Australian Aid” banner, reinforcing a clear and collective message of public support.

The conclusion of the tour powerfully affirmed the strength of our network and the impact possible when Christian women come together to learn, reflect and act for a more just world.

The 2026 Micah Women’s Network dinners in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne brought together close to 500 women who care deeply about justice, faith, and the state of our world.

Asuntha Charles spoke powerfully about the impact of foreign aid and the urgent need to help the 300 million people worldwide who depend on humanitarian assistance.

Together, attendees showed their support for Australian Aid by adding their names to the “We Support Australian Aid” banner.

This banner was signed by Australia’s Heads of Churches and travelled across the country and will now be presented to politicians to demonstrate the strength of public support for Australian Aid.

The tour was a powerful reminder of the impact that’s possible when women come together in faith and action, and of the vital role our network can continue to play in shaping a more just world.

Why does Australian aid matter?

Because Australian aid saves lives, prevents crises, and makes the world safer – for our neighbours and for Australia.

Right now, Australian aid is at a critical moment with decisions being made in the coming weeks that will shape our aid program into the future.

In the lead‑up to the federal budget, we’ll be sharing how Australians have already shown their support for aid and how you can join national church leaders and thousands of others in raising your voice.

The world needs now more than ever.

Australian Aid saves lives, prevents crises, and helps build a safer world for all — and three quarters of Australians agree it should be protected.

The Heads of Churches across Australia have added their voices by signing a petition in support of Australian Aid. Join them and stand with us for a safer world for all.
