Welcome to the Team – Fardin Rahmani

We are proud to welcome Fardin Rahmani to our team as our Operations Manager.

A dedicated community leader and multicultural advocate originally from Afghanistan, proudly based in Newcastle, Australia since 2014. He has spent over a decade empowering culturally diverse communities across the Greater Newcastle and Hunter region. He is now joining the CALD Connect Foundation team as Operations Manager.

He serves as President of the Afghan Association of Hunter, leading initiatives around cultural identity, youth development, women's participation, and social inclusion. In his new role as Operations Manager in CALD CONNECT Foundation, Fardin will bring his wealth of experience in community engagement, cross-cultural communication, advocacy, and program facilitation to help strengthen and grow the organisation's impact across the region.

👩‍💻About the Role

CALD CONNECT is seeking a female Technology Instructor to deliver digital literacy sessions for **newly arrived refugee women.

This role is designed to create a comfortable and supportive environment where women can learn essential technology skills with confidence.

🧑‍🏫 Key Responsibilities

* Deliver **weekend workshops for women only**
* Teach basic digital skills, including:

* Using smartphones and computers
* Email setup and communication
* Accessing services (Centrelink, MyGov, Medicare, banking apps)
* Internet safety
* Provide a culturally safe and supportive learning space
* Assist participants individually when needed

🌍 Requirements

* Female applicant (essential)
* Fluency in **Arabic OR Dari/Pashto** (English required)
* Experience in teaching, training, or community work (preferred)
* Basic digital/IT skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

⭐ Desirable

* Experience working with refugee or multicultural women
* Background in education, IT, or community services
* Multilingual candidates highly encouraged

⏰ Schedule

✨ Step into the living history of migration in Australia through an inspiring panel discussion featuring migrants and refugees who arrived in the 1970s, 1990s, and more recently.

Hear first-hand stories of resilience, adaptation, and belonging from people who have helped shape the cultural fabric of the Hunter region. Facilitated by Dr Ashraf Abdelbaky, who brings his own lived migration expertise to the conversation.

Mr Louis Ndagijimana – African-Australian community leader, interpreter, and advocate for refugee communities.

Najia – Afghan-Australian women’s empowerment leader, law student, and community educator.
