Important protests at NSW Parliament this week over proposed changes to Crown Land laws that Aboriginal Land Councils say could weaken land rights protections and affect unresolved land claims across NSW.
It's worth understanding the issue directly from Aboriginal voices and organisations leading the campaign. Article from NITV:

More than 92 per cent of Aboriginal Land Councils across New South Wales have condemned a recently introduced Bill as a threat to land rights, with hundreds rallying at Parliament House to oppose the ...

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women organising across the NSW Community Alliance network, including here in the Hunter. Across our network, women are leading, from our Executive Officer to the organisers of the Sydney Alliance and Hunter Community Alliance. We know firsthand the leadership women bring to building relationships, developing leaders and organising communities to win change.

We see every day the strength, clarity and determination women bring to public leadership, strengthening our organisations and the communities we represent.

Across the neighbourhood, people are talking about changes affecting the wider community. Before decisions are made, we want to hear directly from the people who live here.

This listening session is a chance for residents and neighbours to share what everyday life in Hamo South is really like — what’s working well, what feels difficult, and what you’d like to see in the future. You can come to speak, to listen, or just to get a sense of what others are experiencing.

No expertise is needed. It’s a space for honest conversation among people who care about the area.

In the wake of the violence that unfolded at Monday night’s protest, and amid deep grief in many communities, the Board of the NSW Community Alliance, which includes the Hunter Community Alliance, has issued a reflection to our members and partners.

You can read the full statement in the link here.

The violence that unfolded at Monday night’s protest has left communities across NSW shaken. The images from Sydney’s CBD come in the context of widespread community grief at the horrific targeting of the Jewish community at Bondi, and grief at the continued suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

Hunter Community Alliance condemns last night’s horrific shooting at a Jewish community Hanukkah celebration in Bondi.

Violence of this kind has no place in our society. Our hearts are with those who were harmed, their families, the Australian Jewish community, and the people of Bondi who will be experiencing deep shock, fear, and grief.

Moments like this call for us to stand closer together, not further apart. As a broad alliance of faith groups, unions and community organisations across the Hunter, we reaffirm our commitment to the dignity and safety of every person. We stand together in grief, resolve and hope.

We stand with the Jewish community across Australia and here in the Hunter, with the people of Bondi, and with our friends in the Sydney Alliance as they respond to this tragedy and continue the difficult work of building solidarity, care, and unity in its aftermath. The impact of this tragic event reverbates far beyond those directly involved.

Locals will likely gather in the coming days, we'll announce here if there is a vigil the wider community can participate in.
