On Saturday 18th of July we held our Annual General Meeting where new committee members were elected. Congratulations to Tiff our new president! And thanks Jason for the last two years.

Despite some recent setbacks, Hackerspace still has some good momentum among our community and we're still going on enthusiastically.

Hi everyone

Thank you for your patience in the recent closure of Hobart Hackerspace.

The Committee is pleased to let you know the space will reopen from 21 May 2026 to members only.

The Committee recognises that this was an unexpected closure and would like to provide some clarity around the situation that led us to take this action.
The Committee took this action first and foremost to keep all members safe, but also to consider appropriate action according to the Constitution.

The action that the Committee took was to expel a member of the Hobart Hackerspace.

Committee members are bound to act in accordance with the Constitution and uphold every members’ privacy and therefore is unable to provide further commentary on the expulsion.

As recognition of the interruption to your membership, the Committee has approved a once off extension for the period of closure (1 month) to all current financial memberships.

The Committee has also decided that, in future, any Committee member can decide to close the Space immediately, when a situation occurs which puts the occupants at risk.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Committee of Hobart Hackerspace Inc. has decided that it is necessary to close the Space until further notice. We hope that the situation will be resolved soon. Thank you for your understanding.
