Looking to stretch the budget, pick up some fresh produce, grab a few bargains, or simply have a browse? We've got shelves full of affordable groceries, fresh arrivals, and plenty of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered!

This week we've added and restocked:

• Shoulder bags from just $12
• Handmade scrunchies supporting Kids With Cancer Hobart
• Free book exchange library
• Giftware, stationery, reading glasses, toys, sensory items and homewares
• Fresh produce and bakery items available
• Animal feed and compost packs available with purchase
• Loads of miscellaneous bargains and special buys throughout the store

We have SO many specials throughout the store right now, and new stock is hitting the shelves regularly. If you love a bargain, today is definitely worth a visit!

🌱 PANTRY SPOTLIGHT 🌱
This Week: Animal Feed & Compost Bags

Did you know that Australia wastes around 7.6 million tonnes of food every year, with much of it ending up in landfill?

At The Pantry, we believe that if something can still serve a purpose, it shouldn't be thrown away.

Every week we receive generous donations of fresh produce, bakery items and other food products. While much of this food goes straight onto our shelves for people to enjoy, some items may be bruised, damaged, overripe, or no longer suitable for human consumption.

Instead of sending it to landfill, our volunteers carefully sort, repackage and prepare these items into our Animal Feed & Compost Bags.

🐷 Great for livestock and other animals
🐔 Perfect for chickens and poultry
🌱 Ideal for composting and gardens
♻️ Helps reduce food waste and landfill

Every bag is clearly labelled "Animal Feed or Compost Only – Not for Human Consumption" and is provided to help ensure that as little as possible goes to waste.

Last year alone, Australians threw away enough food to fill thousands of garbage trucks. By finding alternative uses for donated produce and bakery items, we're doing our small part to keep valuable resources out of landfill and put them to good use in our community.

At The Pantry, we're committed to a simple goal:

💚 Feed people where we can.
💚 Feed animals where appropriate.
💚 Compost what can't be used.
💚 Send as little as possible to landfill.

Because every loaf, every apple and every carrot deserves the chance to be used rather than wasted.

📢 THE PANTRY IS CLOSED TODAY 📢

Yesterday's stocktake didn't exactly go to plan...

The plan was simple: count stock, organise shelves, tidy up the store, and be productive adults.

What actually happened: ☕ Too much coffee
😂 Too many funny memes
📱 An alarming number of "just watch this one reel" interruptions
🗣️ Conversations that had absolutely nothing to do with stocktake

The result?

We somehow managed to create more mess than we started with, and the stocktake still isn't finished.

BUT...

There is some very good news!

While digging through storage, moving boxes, opening cupboards, and generally creating chaos, we discovered a ridiculous amount of stock that had apparently been hiding from us.

So that means Saturday is going to have some AMAZING specials and clearance deals as we make room for even more stock that's on its way.

(Who knew stocktake was actually just a very expensive game of hide and seek?)

We'll be closed today while we finish counting things, cleaning up the disaster zone, and trying to remember where we put everything.

👀 Keep an eye on our page!

If you don't already follow us, now is a good time to do so, because we may decide to open tomorrow (Friday) to help clear some of this newly discovered treasure before the next pallets arrive and bury us alive.

Well... we tried. 😅

We pushed hard to be open today for our community, but unfortunately we've discovered we've pushed a little too hard.

Like many others, our volunteers are still dealing with the lingering effects of the winter bugs that have been making their way around the valley, and we simply aren't quite ready to open today.

BUT... ❤️

The good news is that we WILL be open tomorrow!

🚨 EXCITING NEWS ALERT 🚨

Baylee has some HUGE events in the works, and one of them is shaping up to be an absolute cracker!

The Pantry has officially put its hand up to create a Games & Sideshow Alley Room, because apparently we thought running a pantry wasn't enough chaos. 😆

Expect games, prizes, laughs, questionable competitiveness, and plenty of fun for kids (and the grown-ups who swear they're only helping the kids).

More details about the MEGA Market will be released soon, so keep watching this space.
