A big congratulations to Andrea Hewitt, our Group Leader, who was recently presented with the Silver Wattle Award at the Scouts Tasmania Annual General Meeting.

The Silver Wattle acknowledges service and ongoing contribution to Scouts for ten or more years.

Andrea has been a valued part of our group, including being among the team who helped restart New Norfolk Scouts three years ago after it had been closed for six years. Since then, she has continued to support the group and its members taking it from strength to strength.

Please join us in congratulating Andrea on this well-deserved recognition.

Join the adventure – Make a difference with New Norfolk Scouts! 🌟
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while having a whole lot of fun along the way?

We’re on the lookout for passionate and positive volunteers to join our team as a Joey Scout Leader (ages 5–8) and an Assistant Cub Scout Leader (ages 8–11).

Scouting is all about helping young people develop confidence, resilience and teamwork skills through outdoor adventure, creativity and community connection. As a leader, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping the next generation, guiding young minds as they discover their abilities and build lifelong skills.

No prior experience? No worries! Scouts Tasmania provides training, support and resources to help you every step of the way.
Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a community-minded local, or just keen to try something new, this is your chance to make a real impact—right here in New Norfolk.

Buzzing into World Bee Day 🐝🌼

Bees are vital for our environment because they pollinate many of the plants we rely on for food and healthy ecosystems - about one-third of the food we eat depends on them. Without bees, biodiversity and food production would be at serious risk.

Scouts are working to protect these important pollinators and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through simple actions like planting native flowers, avoiding pesticides, and creating safe habitats.

Every small action helps protect bees - and our planet.

New Norfolk Scouts AGM – You’re Invited!

Join us for the New Norfolk Scouts Annual General Meeting on Sunday 17 May — we’d love to see you there!

🍔 BBQ kicks off at 5:30pm
🕡 AGM starts at 6:30pm

Come along, catch up with the group, enjoy a bite to eat, and hear about what we’ve been up to over the past year (and what’s ahead!)

We’re also keen to welcome a few more people to our team — whether that’s helping on the committee or getting involved as a leader. It’s a great way to support local youth, learn new skills, and be part of a fantastic community.

All are welcome, parents, supporters, and anyone interested in getting involved!

We hope to see you there!

You'll find us at Agfest along with other Scout units helping keep cans out of landfill.

♻️ Helping keep Agfest cleaner, greener and more sustainable 🌾

This year at Agfest, volunteers will be out across the site as our official ‘Binfluencers’, helping patrons and exhibitors sort waste correctly, reduce contamination in recycling bins and improve resource recovery outcomes across the event 👏

Festivals and major events generate significant volumes of waste and this initiative is all about ensuring recyclables actually get recycled and less ends up in landfill.

Delivered by in partnership with Scouts Tasmania, the program is supported by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board, which is funded by the Tasmanian Government.

The initiative not only supports better waste outcomes at Agfest 2026 but also contributes to the development of a five-year Waste Minimisation and Resource Recovery Plan for Agfest events from 2027–2031 - helping create long-term improvements for one of Tasmania’s most significant events.

By participating in the program, Scouts Tasmania volunteers will also collect eligible containers through the Recycle Rewards scheme, raising funds to support Scout camps, equipment and youth programs across the state 💚

🌊 Adventure on the River Derwent! 🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

The Cubs and Scouts from New Norfolk and Mt Faulkner Scout Group had an incredible day out on the River Derwent. Everything aligned perfectly - stunning weather, calm water and plenty of smiles and laughter during our mini kayaking expedition.

They paddled an impressive two kilometres, showing true Scouting resilience, determination, and that classic “give it a go” spirit.

Amazing effort, team! 💚✨

What a great day for the Scout district water day and swimming carnival held at New Norfolk.

Scouts from all over the district met and did a series of water activities and took part in a swimming carnival.

Our Joeys won the section trophy! Our Cubs joined forces with Glenorchy to win the Cub relay. Not to be left out, or Scouts joined forces with Mt. Faulker Scouts to win the Scout relay.

Well done all!!!
