Ride for Sick Kids Raising money to support the services of Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW supporting sick and injured children and their families

Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW operates services throughout the Northern NSW region that support the families of children who are sick or injured. The Ride For Sick Kids is a major fundraising event for the charity and travels a varying route each year, touching the communities and towns as they ride through. A key component of the week long event are the school visits with an emphasis on prevention of accidents by teaching bike safety.

A huge thank you to our 2026 Ride for Sick Kids Silver Sponsors – Mike Blewitt Ford, Pacific Smiles Dental, Quarry Mining & Construction Equipment Pty Ltd and Robson Civil Projects.

From partners who have been part of Ride for Sick Kids for many years, to those getting behind the Ride in a new way this year, we’re incredibly grateful to have you alongside us.

We loved having the Kari from Quarry Mining and their team out on the road with us, and welcoming back Robson Civil Projects Rider, David, for the final day into Newcastle. 🚴‍♂️

Little bikes. Big impact. 🚲❤️

Throughout August, McDonald's restaurants across Northern NSW and the Central Coast sold $2 Charity Bikes in support of Ride for Sick Kids.

Along the Ride route, we had the chance to stop in at a number of restaurants and see some of the incredible displays teams had created. We loved seeing just how much our McDonald’s Licensees, managers and crew had got behind Ride for Sick Kids – and how many little bikes were filling their restaurants!

We're thrilled to share that together, McDonald’s restaurants and their customers raised an incredible $158,184 for sick kids and their families.

Thank you to the Macca’s crews for getting behind Ride for Sick Kids, and to every customer who bought a Charity Bike during August.

Because of you, more families can stay close to their seriously ill or injured child, surrounded by the support they need.

This year marked Jason’s third Ride for Sick Kids, and over those three years he’s become a much-loved part of our Ride family.

Anyone who has ridden alongside Jason knows the commitment and dedication he brings to every kilometre. 🚴‍♂️

Some of the most important parts of Ride for Sick Kids happen behind the scenes. 🚲❤️

Getting our riders, support crew, bikes, luggage and equipment where they need to be across more than 500km takes a fair bit of moving around.

A huge thank you to for providing a truck, bus and support vehicle for this year’s Ride for Sick Kids, helping our team get safely from place to place throughout the week.

Support like this makes a real difference. By helping with the practical things that make the Ride possible, more of the funds we raise can go towards what matters most – supporting families with a sick or injured child.

When a child is sick or injured, being together matters.

A huge thank you to Collaborative Construction Solutions, our Platinum Sponsor of Ride for Sick Kids, for getting behind sick kids and their families.

The funds raised through Ride for Sick Kids help Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW give families a place to stay, rest and be together while their child is receiving care away from home.

Together, our Ride for Sick Kids community raised an incredible $308,956 for sick kids and their families.

And behind that number are families.

Families who need to stay close when their child is sick or injured. Somewhere to rest after a long day at hospital. A place where brothers and sisters can stay together, meals can be shared and family can simply be family. 🏡❤️

Because when a child needs medical care, family stays.

This year, your support through Ride for Sick Kids helped make 1,626 Family Stays possible.

Whether you rode, fundraised, donated, bought a Charity Bike, rallied your gym, workplace or community group, sponsored or supported the Ride, volunteered or cheered us on along the way – you were part of making that possible.

From getting our team safely along the route to helping us support families year-round, our vehicles do a lot of kilometres for a very important reason. 💛

A huge thank you to Hyundai Australia and Hyundai Help for Kids for supporting Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW and Ride for Sick Kids.

This year, we were lucky to have a hybrid Hyundai Santa Fe as part of our Ride fleet, helping keep our riders and support crew moving safely throughout the 500km journey.

And that support goes well beyond Ride week. Through Margaret and Pearl, our Ronald McDonald House vehicles, Hyundai Help for Kids helps us be there for children and families throughout the year.

We’ve caught our breath… just.

After an incredible month of Ride for Sick Kids, culminating in our riders taking on more than 500km across Northern NSW, we’ve had a little time to stop and reflect on everything that made this year’s Ride so special.

Because Ride for Sick Kids is about so much more than the bikes and the kilometres.

It’s the people who took on their own Ride for Sick Kids challenge. The gyms, workplaces and community groups who rallied their people and got involved. The riders who tackled 500km. The families, friends and colleagues who backed them. The donors who gave so generously. The families who shared their stories. The schools and communities who welcomed us. Our incredible support crew, sponsors and partners. And everyone who fundraised, donated, shared, cheered us on or found their own way to be part of it.

Every one of you played a part.

So over the next little while, we want to take some time to reflect on the month that was, share some of the moments that made it so special, and recognise some of the incredible people and organisations who helped make it happen.

Because ultimately, Ride for Sick Kids isn’t about how far we ride.

It’s about how far we can go together for families with a sick or injured child.

Today marks the final distance for our peloton 🏁 - cycling 76km from Pokolbin back to our Ronald McDonald House Newcastle 🏡 and completing their 500km journey from Glen Innes 🗺.
